Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantHans Zimmer went ahead and replaced Danny Elfman’s jolly music with his own:

ParticipantIt’s funny. The only reason MIB 3 is getting made is because Sony needs a tentpole for 2011 after having moved Spidey to 2012.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantHow about “To Kill a Mocking Bird”? A film released in 1962 when Elfman was only 9-years-old.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantHappy Birthday.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantWhat about this one?

ParticipantWho hated this score? Or should I say…who heard enough of it to hate it?
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantCinemax is going to premiere the movie tonight at 10pm. So, if you haven’t, this is your chance to watch a movie with an Elfman score you can barely hear. If you get frustrated there’s always this:
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYes, finally.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIf so, it will be the first time Elfman completes a trilogy on “his own”.
I’ve waited 20 years for this.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIt doesn’t really matter. Danny has scored crappy movies before. Atleast it’ll be a high-profile gig and not one where he’ll have to compete with the sound effects.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIf someone hasn’t seen it here’s a clip:

ParticipantHow much original music does the film have? I heard mostly temp tracks from “28 Days Later,” “Sunshine,” and of course, Ennio Morricone’s score to “For a Few Dollars More.” The rest was just songs like Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation.” The movie lists four composers but the score doesn’t show that.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantVery strange. They don’t usually rename cues when they are temped in from other films and actually make the final cut. I’m seeing KA tonight so I’ll know for sure.
Yeah, I’m most likely incorrect. Plus, if it had been temp music I would have noticed.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantDamn you, Disney!
Descent Into Mystery
Participant“Walk to Rasul’s”
Damn it. I knew I should have checked this thread before watching the movie. I remember that scene, but not the music. I would have payed closer attention if I knew that was the scene with Elfman music. Although I gotta say that the movie had a lot of temp music, so I don’t think Elfman composed anything specific for this film. They probably just lifted it from another movie.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIt still surprises me that Danny’s music has never been leaked.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantBootleg, huh? Someone better track it down.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYet even Ennio Morricone makes it to the soundtrack.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYou’re right. My mistake.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantSo, if its original music then why isn’t it on the damn soundtrack? Even his one track on “Nacho Libre” made it to the soundtrack.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantSpeaking of last minute gigs, Danny wrote the theme for a movie starring and written by his niece:

ParticipantHe isn’t listed on the soundtrack:

ParticipantBy the way, if you want some real news, Danny has an official YouTube page:

ParticipantIt worked last year when I told everyone that Danny was scoring Sam Raimi’s “Drag Me to Hell.”
