Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantDanny scored Flubber which was written/produced by him. So, they worked a second time 12 years later. Although this reunion wasn’t as successful, I’m afraid.

ParticipantDanny isn’t doing the Hobbit. Howard Shore is returning.

ParticipantI’ve only listened to Pee-Wee and Edward Scissorhands, so it’s a shame to find out that on Apes it wasn’t a real commentary. But, anyway, I did enjoy his Pee-Wee and Scissorhands commentary. My only problem is that he repeated himself a lot. Many of the stuff he said on Pee-Wee he said again on Scissorhands. That’s why it’d be good for him to do a non-Burton commentary track. He’ll have something new to say.
As for Burton, yeah, his commentaries usually suck. The three that I enjoyed were good cause there was someone else in the room. In Pee-Wee you had Paul Reubens with him. In Ed Wood he was alone, but the writers also did a commentary that was combined with his and that picked up the pace. And in Big Fish there was someone interviewing him.

ParticipantLa-La? Does that mean it’ll be a limited release?
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantI see another Oscar nomination in his future.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantOnly two Elfman scores? Damn.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantwhat did you ask him?

ParticipantIt’s weird to see Burton at comic con. I guess after The Dark Knight he feels safe that Batman fans won’t haunt him down.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantJust an FYI: Burton and the Alice gang are heading to Comic Con.

ParticipantI’ve been re-listening to this tonight. I have to say that it’s definitely one of the top 5 best scores Elfman has done THIS decade. Anyone agree?
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIt took a week for you guys to acknowledge the 20th anniversary. Better late than never, I guess.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantRyan is right, but regardless I’m sure we’ll get a CD. Danny Elfman is a big composer. Disney wouldn’t do that to him. Did they do that to Hans Zimmer’s Pirates score?
Oh, and check out the website:
http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/aliceinwonderland/Not much on it, but it’s something to keep an eye on.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantTim Burton has been executive producing Elfman’s CD’s for their last couple of collaborations, so I’m sure he’ll force Disney to release a CD.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantlol.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantI aim to please.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantRyan, don’t you have connections? Find out if Shore is scoring this or not!
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIs this the first time so much of Elfman’s music hasn’t seen the light of day. Even Little Demons was leaked!
The ONLY good decision made was using Religious Man (I am I am) by Mr Loco as the main theme. That song fit the movie PERFECTLY. But everything else should have been Elfman’s score. Rameses Suite is indication enough that Elfman wrote some classic Pee Wee-esque music for this movie.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantI was watching Nacho Libre on Cartoon Network tonight. So, obviously this is on my mind. Has Elfman’s entire score ever been leaked? I’m curious to hear it. Rameses Suite was good old school Elfman. But I think that’s the only cue they kept.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantGiacchino scored The Incredibles which sounded like something Elfman could have done.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantCan Sam Raimi be in this movie too?
In all serious-ness though, I don’t think there’s any bad blood between Burton and Shore. Shore even appeared on the Ed Wood DVD.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYeah, I always assumed Debney would score Iron Man. Jon Favreu had a message board on MySpace for the first movie and I even asked, “where’s Debney?” lol.
Well, anyway, I think Giacchino can adapt Elfman. He did such a good job adapting other people’s score in Speed Racer and Star Trek that I think he can do it with Spidey as well.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantThe more that I think of it the more I think that Raimi should replace Young with Michael Giacchino. Giacchino hit homes runs with Speed Racer and Star Trek. Plus, he has experience in the genre thanks to Incredibles and he’s a fantastic composer outside of adaptations. Have you heard Up yet? That may actually be my favorite score of the year so far.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantwait, what? Shore was supposed to score this?
