Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIt’s like Planet of the Apes meets Batman with a little Kingdom thrown in.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantSounds like a mixture of old school and new school Elfman. It could be interesting. Hopefully Ryan’s samples are a little longer.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIt’s the same with the Spider-Man theme.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantSuperman score is as classic as Batman. If not more since it has no challengers. When people think Superman music they think John Williams. With Batman it’s a different story. They could think Elfman or the `60s Adam West theme or even Shirley Walker’s theme from the cartoon series. Or the 10 people who’ll think of Hans Zimmer. But with Superman there is only Williams. Although I also enjoy the theme from the `40s Max Fleschier shorts and Shirley Walker’s theme from the `90s cartoon series. But sadly those aren’t as remembered as Williams.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYay!
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantThe DVD will have 30-40 minutes of deleted scenes, including an alternate ending. More Elfman music? Ryan, find out for us.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantSo, he’s using the Terminator theme. Cool. Should be interesting to see what he does with it.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantwhen are we getting some previews?!
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantThe CD is now at $13.99. It was $20 before. Smart move, Amazon.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantHappy 50th Birthday.
Descent Into Mystery
Participant$19 seems a bit over-priced.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantAny updates? I’ve seen a couple of new TV spots that feature a new version of the Terminator theme. I wonder if its Elfman.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantFYI, Black Beauty is not a Tim Burton movie. It was directed by Elfman’s then girlfriend, Caroline Thompson. As for movies I haven’t seen…I think Wisdom and SOP are the only ones. Aside from being an Elfman fan I’m also a movie fan so I see a lot of things.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYea, I’m curious as well as to whether or not that’s the actual score or a temp track. Ryan?
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYou guys are being a little harsh on this movie. It looks decent and Christian Bale is in it. Christian Bale!!!
Descent Into Mystery
Participantwarner bros?
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantTo begin with, Williams didn’t write anything for Superman IV. Alexander Courage simply used alternate takes from the original score. You can hear those on the 2001 DVD of Superman: The Movie. Secondly, when did Elfman score 11 superhero movies? Shouldn’t it be 7? Batman, Darkman, Batman Returns, Spider-Man, Hulk, Spider-Man 2, and Hellboy 2. Men in Black, Men in Black II, and Wanted aren’t superhero movies. They’re just comic book adaptations. There’s a SLIGHT difference.
Anyway…McG gave an interview recently to MTV where he said a sequel to Terminator WILL happen if the first movie is a success. So…this is another possible franchise for Elfman.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYea, it’s been 15 days. We should hear SOMETHING soon. Even if it’s just a few seconds in the website.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantAny updates? I’ve already heard the scores for Wolverine and Star Trek. Terminator is the only big May picture missing. C’mon, Elfman. Deliver your hungry fans some music!!!
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantApple doesn’t lie. They’re not Microsoft.

ParticipantElfman’s theme was Oscar nominated. He’ll return. Plus, Spielberg is the producer. He respects film composers.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantThemes by Danny Elfman is better than nothing.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIf LaLa managed to sellout 3000 copies then maybe WB should consider selling it themselves to the wide market.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantThis shouldn’t have been a limited release to begin with, but oh well.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantWasn’t it a limited release and copies are sold out?
