    Interesting…

in reply to: Elfman/Van Sant weepy dounuts and ‘Milk’ #60291

Never was a big fan of the Elfman-Van Sant collaboration. To Die For was decent, Good Will Hunting was a bit boring, and Psycho was point-less. But…I’ll give this a chance.

while Batman was #1 in North America, Indy 3 was # 1 around the world.

I need to listen to some samples.

in reply to: “Blandness” Of Soundtracks #60279

Zimmer doesn’t even writer half his scores!

in reply to: “Blandness” Of Soundtracks #60274

    This is sad:

    According to wiki:

The following composers have been nominated for a Best Original Score Oscar more than once; but as of 2008, the eleven living composers have yet to garner one. The number of nominations is listed in parentheses.

    Living:

    Randy Newman (8)
    Thomas Newman (8)
    James Newton Howard (6)
    Ennio Morricone (5)
    Lalo Schifrin (5)
    George Fenton (4)
    Danny Elfman (3)
    Philip Glass (3)
    Marc Shaiman (3)
    Patrick Doyle (2)
    Richard Robbins (2)

Oh yea! I remember now. Back then they had two categories. So…wait…what the fuck?! How did Elfman lose? I can understand losing to Titanic but Full Monty? I don’t even remember the score to that movie.

in reply to: “Blandness” Of Soundtracks #60270

Dudley won the Oscar? I thought it was James Horner for Titanic.

lol. I don’t know, dude. I just can’t see this beat Dark Knight and Iron Man.

in reply to: Incredible Hulk Trailer #60264

Even if it was a GOOD movie it would STILL be the WEAKEST. This can’t beat Iron Man and Dark Knight.

in reply to: Incredible Hulk Trailer #60260

Yeah, compared to other summer movies it looks the weakest but I still thought it was an interesting trailer.

in reply to: Batman: Gotham Knight #60256

I think it’s obvious they are going for an Elman-Shirley Walker approach. Must have been a decision made by Bruce Timm.

in reply to: NEW Wanted Trailer #60251

Proof of Life for example. I haven’t seen the movie IN YEARS but I recall the score was kinda lame. The Kingdom is also an action movie. And that score wasn’t so great either.

in reply to: YouTube Video Approved #60249

I see. Maybe it won’t happen again. Based on the message I got it seems like Elfman’s camp doesn’t have a problem as long as it’s only a sample. I haven’t uploaded any complete scores. It has only been a couple of samples here and there.

in reply to: NEW Wanted Trailer #60248

That’s not what I said. I said when it comes to “action” scores (meaning scores to movies within the action genre) he tends to struggle a bit more when the movie is some-what grounded. When its a fantasy or sci-fi movie like Batman and Spider-Man he seems more inspired.

in reply to: NEW Wanted Trailer #60241

Danny Elfman composes great action music when it’s some sort of fantasy or sci-fi movie like Batman and Spider-Man. But he tends to struggle with more grounded movies. Dead Presidents was the exception.

in reply to: NEW Wanted Trailer #60238

Yea, Spider-Fan. A ‘Mission: Impossible” type score could work. Although I was thinking that something like “Dead Presidents” could be a bit more effective.

in reply to: NEW Wanted Trailer #60231

Lets just hope that Elfman doesn’t give us a Kingdom-esque score.

Anime is just a style. Each artist adds his/her stamp within that style.
