    [sorry, didn’t read the EDIT]

Hmmmm, this page at Best Buy ( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat103500050013 ) writes that the ‘extra songs’ are “This is Halloween” and the “Scheming Song” (which was the same as “Kidnap Sandy Claws” last time I checked [?]). I thought these demos included on the regular upcoming release of this CD? Now I’m confused (I don’t want my version without these, since the demos are the very thing I’ll be buying this CD for. Hmph.)

You’ll also get new tracks from Danny Elfman, including two Best Buy exclusives: “This is Halloween,” and “The Scheming Song.” Plus, get free shipping.

    Odd.

That’s because he’s not really Danny. I’m Danny. The whole singing-girl-in-Warsaw-Poland schtick is a hoax. We hired an actress.

It had a few ‘golden’ moments though.

I generally find it a bit painful to hear Manson talk, he seems to suffer a lot with every vowel, and he’s so full of himself all at the same time (well, that’s part of his persona, I guess. Very hiphop of him) ;-) – and he just goes on and on and it takes so much time… Danny does a good job at sitting completely still and letting him finish, lol.

I think you can also stream it from here http://media.music.ign.com/articles/740/740204/vids_1.html

However, even if you create an account it doesn’t let you download the files (well, it doesn’t let ME download the files). I guess you need to buy a paid subscription for that.

Good for it hitting the charts… but I just wish it hit my mailbox, finally. I don’t remember waiting for an Amazon parcel any longer. Or maybe just time stretches when you check the mailbox 10 times a day…

Oh god, that was fantastic. Tim’s not just funny, he’s so fast, too. He had me in stitches.

I agree that it’s hard to tell, from a dry, written text. I wouldn’t jump to conclusions. If he doesn’t have a problem with a commission that’s based on plagiarism (or self-plagiarism), and is happy to have the job, good for him. *shrug* It’s not like he blasts Elfman, although it might be a bit ironic towards him (as if not agreeing to plagiarise equals being a fussy primadonna-of-a-composer. Which is not true.)

It’s always true, though, that in any professional world others will take up the tasks you wouldn’t touch with a sharpened end of a long stick, wearing gloves. It’s just the way professional life is, I guess – there is always someone who’ll do something you wouldn’t (especially in Hollywood ;-)).

Having said all that, I’m glad Elfman tries to maintain a certain professional level, as any composer this accomplished should – if more people measured up to that, maybe some of the problems plaguing the music business would be less acute – like, you can’t just call somebody up to copy something note for note. Well, not for a movie… car commercials are a different business…er… I guess. ;-]

Lucky people! Have fun. :-) And I second what Danny Burton says, but I shall backmask this post so that it doesn’t get deleted, but burns into your subconsious:

A little offtopic, but concerning Fiona Apple and filmscore composers ;-) : Well, she has just severed (somewhat) her longtime collaboration with Jon Brion, which is a pity. The Brion version of her last album (which leaked prior to it being re-recorded with Mike Elizondo), was in most cases far better than what she then decided to do with it without Brion. The original had this fabulous old-school merry-go-round quality Brion’s music has, the element of fairytale madness to it. The final version lost a lot of it, but that’s allegedly what she wanted. *shrug*

I love Fiona Apple, but she really could refrain from stealing my fire. ;-)

Yes, well it has the props of af a Chirico painting, but it’s just too delicately detailed and… you know ornamental(?) for him?
Oh, maybe. I don’t know. I just have it on the tip of my tongue (or brain, haha). It’s very cool, though.

What’s “Daily Variety”, though? (they’re supposed to have an in-depth profile on Danny in September…)

I like the cover. I’m vaguely reminded of another painting in the same vein, but I can’t put my finger on it. Definitely reminds me of something.

Thanks for theat piece of information – I’d have never guessed. I love Brion! – Eternal Sunshine and Magnolia were amazing soundtracks, plus he’s such a fantastic producer as well. I’ll have to look around if that score is available anywhere…

If anyone likes imaginative, beatlesesque rock, they should definitely check out his solo album: http://cdbaby.com/cd/jonbrion
