ParticipantFriggin irresistably adorable…
I mean…uh… that’s a wonderful tv special. Yes.
gaba
ParticipantMaybe Elfman will perform in the movie.
Ah, now you’ve done it. I didn’t even THINK about this and now the unlikely notion will haunt me for months to come. Awwww…

ParticipantI still had a tiny bit of misinformed hope that it’s not the musical-version . Nothing against the Sondheim piece, but… you know… filler music job for Elfman again? Or do I interpret it the wrong way?
gaba
ParticipantYes, I think you should definitely check out something from Kurt Weill, as suggested. You may find some similarities here and there.

ParticipantHello again,
I tried to PM you about this, not to clutter the forum with toatally unrelated info, but I see ‘private messaging’ is disabled and you’re email addy is hidden, so…
Anyway – I have a new song recorded (as a part of a covers-contest on a songwriting/performing forum) It’s “London Calling” by the Clash, and since you expressed your interest in new music:

or http://gabakulka.com/GabrielaKulka-LondonCalling192.mp3(sorry if this is a forum faux-pas . let me know.)

ParticipantOkay this makes much more sense. Hm. Still… we just want more, don’t we. Every cut cue is a regret for this here fan, obviously.
gaba
ParticipantI want them both, how’s that for a decisive attitude?
Anyway, I never thought Sweeney Todd would be the musical adaptation, at least I hope it won’t. (not that I dislike musicals)But I agree that perhaps with “Ripley” it’s a tiny little bit less predictable what sort of ‘tools’ Danny would use (Although you never know, the score for Todd might as well be a wonderful surprise). I hope it didn’t bite the dust permamently.

ParticipantIs that for real? Damn.

ParticipantI’ve known her songs for a while, she has some fantastic stuff – “Lucky Me” is definitely her more poppy incarnation, but do try and find “When Another Midnight”, or “Elliot”. I think these are great songs.
I never knew she loves Danny. That’s great to hear (that she has such good taste)

ParticipantAwsome.
Everytime I’ve been talking about Danny to my friend these past few months, I ended all my high praise with “…if, however, Serendad Schizophrana doesn’t get released anytime soon on CD…” and completed the sentence with a list of horrible, horrible things I’ll commit on my surroundings and the maestro himself.Humanity is safe again, I daresay.

ParticipantThoroughly ridiculous. And… well, I can’t really imagine hearing something THAT violently scary from mr Zimmer. Maybe I’m biased, but… come on. I’d love to hear that cue, maybe I’d change my mind about him.
gaba
ParticipantFantastic! Thankyou so much.
gaba
ParticipantThankyou very, very much.
Glad you like it. I was really startled with my name popping up on the forum subject list, lol.
As for more lengthy releases, there’s this one CD(r) which I recorded about three years ago, called ‘Between Miss Scylla and a Hard Place’, I have available on CDBaby. In the hindsight, I am half pleased, half horrified with it, and the sound quality leaves A LOT to ask for, but that’s what I have out there at the moment. ( http://cdbaby.com/cd/kulka ).
Since January I’ve been working on a new record, though, on and off. It should sound much better, I’m about half way through.
Thanks for your interest! I’ll let you know when it’s ready.gaba
ParticipantJack Black. Danny Elfman. Could one possibly stuff more pink-fluffy-happiness into one piece of news?
Awesome.

ParticipantWell, they want to be entertainers, most of all. THEN, possibly, artists. There’s a fine line between one and the other, but there is a line, dividing where the stress goes.
It’s a good way to showcase young, unknown, taleneted entertainers, possibly. I have a major problem with the criteria these people are judged upon, but these are market criteria. So, it’s not enough that they show they can sing very well, they have to prove themselves ‘marketable’ to a larger audience. It’s not called “Idol” for nothing, right? I sort-of-kind-of detest that, personally, but everyone there knows what they’re bargaining for, so I think it’s a fair deal.gaba
ParticipantAwww, shoot. My internet connection gave up on me yesterday, and so I managed to hear all but ONE movement this week (I missed the chorla ‘I forget’, movement 5, how bad is THAT?). Do you suppose the http://myspace.com/dannyelfmanunlimited will be ‘repeating’ the other movements, not just the blue strings one?
gaba
ParticipantIt’s awesome – thankyou very much! I’ve had it on repeat all morning.
The beginning reminds me a bit of Dolores, but maybe I’m just associating this because of those glorious dissonances later on in that fragment. Yum.(and, by the way – hello!
