ParticipantOh…man.
I always get a silly grin. Like a slice of sunny California weather. (or maybe it’s Bridget that does this to the pictures?)

ParticipantThe snippets of just the beginnings of the score tracks can hardly bring one to his feet, but it sounds like a really fun score all the same. The groovy organ is still a favourite.

ParticipantBah! Up where? That glasses-rim silhuette is still sheer hotness.
:B

ParticipantThanks very much!
That organ sounds half silly/half psycho, I like it a lot… fun fun fun.gaba
ParticipantThe music mostly doesn’t need any adaptation. It’s a fully fledged musical, not just songs but ‘inbetween music’ as well. Perhaps there’s some minor tweaking to fit things in properly, but from what I know, everything you need is THERE.

ParticipantTimothy Spall and Christopher Lee! How wonderful (didn’t know!).
Ah well, no Danny, but that’s not really a surprise.
I wish they went all lowly-disgustingly-hollywood and recorded a ‘brand new song’ as an ‘addition’ so that it can go for the oscars(you know, Danny singing “You Must Love Me” or something)

ParticipantCorrect. I have the SILVA SCREEN double CDalbum titled “Bernard Herrmann – the essential film music collection” (and indeed, a taxi on the cover). It features a 14-minute suite from “On Dangerous Ground”.
And it is fantastic.gaba
ParticipantI wouldn’t worry too much. I mean… somebody who is THIS obsessive about tearing down everything Elfman ever wrote, so evidently does not have a single pinch of objectivity, it renders any review useless and laughable.
Besides…
“ZOMG!!!111EFLMAN DOESN”T ORCHAST8 HIZ OWN WORK!!!!111!”
shut up. this is so old.gaba
ParticipantPoland and Russia!

ParticipantAwesome, thanks! I remember Danny mentioning in an interview how utterly “random” the music numbers were in Betty Boop and all the weird but wonderful ‘apropos-nothing’ surreal ideas all crammed in there. Well… he was right, haha.
That was lovely. Big thanks. Now I’ll keep on singing the Sqeezit version all evening, gah!

ParticipantIt’s a rather good movie (I adore Norton in almost anything he does, and pretty much everyone else does a great job in this film. Philip Seymour Hoffman is fab!)… with a VERY good score. The score-commentary is not one of the best since it’s rather scarce, but it does have a few very funny moments (like the notorious ‘THE most morbidly scored blowjob in the history of cinema…’ comment which had me giggle for a good few minutes)
gaba
ParticipantThanks for that!
The song does have a nice brass section. Don’t know if that’s enough of a Boingo-connection, but it certainly makes the song twice as cool. (*signed: undercover brass fetishist*)

ParticipantWell… as with anyone who isn’t my nearsest friend or family, and so I have no first-hand knowledge of what really happened – I tend to reserve my judgement.
It does sound ridiculous, with that I agree. *shrug*gaba
ParticipantAwesome! Thankyou very, very much!
gaba
ParticipantMy thoughts exactly – a loud mix of a score in a movie?
(!)
In 2006? Celebrate…

ParticipantSweet!
Thankyou!gaba
ParticipantWell, the result would be just about the same.
Let’s see.. Dogma came out in 1999. That would be: Instinct, Anywhere But Here and Sleepy Hollow, just that year (not sure what part of 1999 Dogma came out, so that could just as well tie itself to Danny’s work on 1998 and 2000 releases).
I guess it’s hard to pick out any year Danny wouldn’t be terminally busy in…. so we’ll never know what’s turned down and what’s Turned Down.gaba
ParticipantThat’s great news. I agree that Danny’s involvement in this project would be fantastic, but it’s still shaping up to be ace.
Thanks for the heads up!gaba
ParticipantFabulous. Thankyou so much for putting all the work in it – the results are simply great.

ParticipantI do agree that the orchestration is…um..Edwardian?
I think the sweetness of the main theme will serve the film right, from what I can tell, but I think I’ll be a sucker for ‘action’ cues instead, in this one – everything from track 5 through 7 (In The Mud, Templeton, The Plan Begins) is pure gold. So is the exerpt from “The Dump”. Groovy!gaba
ParticipantAll I can say so far is: I’ve always loved Chris Cornell’s voice, therefore was very excited about his rendition of the bond song – as for the rest – I’ll definitely go see it/hear it.

ParticipantSame here, unfortunately. All I get is the homepage. Ah, well.

ParticipantActually, my celebration of Halloween boiled down to watching “Psycho” (the original one) with my mom and dad. Which becamse slightly Danny-related when, upon the first few violin passages my dad turns to me and says: “Oh, sounds like ‘your guy’ ripped off a lot from this one, hasn’t he?”
Buaha.
God, it’s a pain to have musical parents at times.gaba
ParticipantFor those outside of the US.
