Keymaster“Wind-up penguins”, eh? 😉

KeymasterI see Michael Keaton has confirmed. Now, who’s writing the music? 🙂

KeymasterLittle late (old thread!) but saw this in a Washington Post article ranking the SPIDER-MAN movies:
“Alfred Molina gives a compelling performance as classic Spider-Man villain Doctor Octopus and composer Danny Elfman, with an assist from superstar comic artist Alex Ross in the opening credits and some fun-to-watch skyscraper web-swinging at movie’s end, gives us one of the greatest superhero movie scores ever.” – David Betancourt

KeymasterBeen listening to the score on Spotify. 0:22 into “Webbed Surveillance” I swear I was listening to WANTED.
Actually quite a bit of it reminds me of MEN IN BLACK and its sequel scores.

KeymasterWell you can definitely hear the edit at 2:40.
Maybe Descent was watching the movie on PAL? 😉

KeymasterIf I recall correctly there’s even a section of the main title piece cut out, near the end. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen the film.

KeymasterYou really love this news, don’t you ddddeeee 🙂

KeymasterKeep thinking about this. How huge this is. I mean, Danny wrote additional music for THE AVENGERS, adapted Silvestri’s theme into something new, now he gets to do the same thing for JUSTICE LEAGUE. He is literally putting his musical fingerprints on every major comic book character in film today.

KeymasterOh I wasn’t talking about money, what I was talking about it is the more intimate scores are obviously a response to the big, loud ones. If all he’s writing is intimate ones, well then where’s the diversity?
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterThor, you don’t get those smaller, intimate scores without the big blockbusters. After JUSTICE LEAGUE I’m sure Elfman will turn to something non-film. I just hope he scores DUMBO before retreating into indie land again.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterMy guess this is DC’s way of moving JUSTICE LEAGUE into the friendlier tone of AVENGERS/GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Elfman is a perfect fit for that tone — he can handle the action, the humor and heart (if all three of those things are in the film!)
I imagine the fanboy hate will ratchet up over the next few months. I’m OK with Tom Holkenborg (can we please call him by his real name already?) but don’t see him as a fit for a Whedon-influenced JUSTICE LEAGUE.

Keymaster‘The Batman Theme’ returns!

KeymasterMakes sense publicity for this release did not include “In-depth liner notes by the composer.” 😉

KeymasterIt’s May 29 – Happy Birthday, Danny Elfman!
Now this thread is officially old.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterYes, but will he also score THE INVISIBLE MAN? 🙂

KeymasterWell that’s terrible news. Thanks for the Facebook heads up — I was able to see some of the kind words for Clare.
I’m not sure if I have the message anymore but at one point I received an email from Clare, perhaps by accident. I wish I could dig it up but it might have been lost in the sands of AOL time…
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterInteresting, this video isn’t exactly new but I just watched it this week. Are you watching me!?! 😉

KeymasterGot my CD today — man, I wish Danny had scored the whole film. This is fantastic!
I’ve got three new Elfman discs on my desk for the first time in how long? It’s a good time!
