Gotta echo what everyone else is saying.

I’ve been with your site since the beginning in the mid 90’s, Ryan, but there’s a time and place for everything.

Making it a blog-type site while — and this is crucial – retaining the messageboard, would be a-ok with me.

Be sure to store all your material on your harddrive or something, though. You never know when it’s going to get useful. Keep is as your own personal museum (if you have the room).

Social interaction has become more important than exhaustive database information these days.

Agree with the trilogy thing. HUNGER GAMES seems to have an interesting premise (I’ve not read the books), but I was worried about the TWILIGHT comparisons. In any case, Elfman is so busy these days that there won’t be any shortage of new music from him!

Yeah, but with shipping to Norway, it clocks in at more than $20.

I’m still looking for a place that sells IRIS cheaply, need to get below $17 with shipping to Norway. And also that offers paypal. But ordered SCROOGED immediately, even though it clocked in at $28. Thankfully, SAE offers paypal.

I’m gettin’ this, provided I order in time. I think it’s going to go fast.

I got a copy from someone.

Very rewarding to see the two of them together, although most of what they say is stuff we as hardcore fans have already heard many times before. The appeal is more in the event than in the actual contents. Funny to see the very enthusiastic and detail-driven Spielberg vs. the more softspoken gentlemen Williams who prefers to talk in broad strokes.

Awesome! I was waiting for a move away from the “branch” format so that we don’t have to click each reply individually to see it.

Any more news about a soundtrack release of this?

As far as I remember, there is only one Boingo song – “Home Again” – which is used over the end credits.

I saw the film a couple of years ago, and it’s quite good. Really underrated.

The score is a personal favourite of mine; very unique in Elfman’s canon. Almost has a Jean MIchel Jarre vibe at times, esp. his ZOOLOOK album.

Pretty cool. I guess that’s about as close as Danny can get to Conti’s ROCKY sound! :)

Well, it would certainly be up his alley. Time will tell.

Nevermind, I found a copy of the whole film online.

I tried to make out what were Elfman’s original pieces — and I think I recognized a couple of them — but there were so many other songs tracked in that it was impossible for me to identify them all properly. I think there are about 5-6 original Elfman compositions.

I hope it gets a proper release down the road.

Nice! Any link? I’m very curious about that.

Very nice, although the percussive marimba stuff towards the end reminds me a lot Orff’s ubiquitous “Music Poetica”.

Where is the DICK TRACY album on iTunes? I did a search in the store and only found the Madonna album. How do you see reviews in iTunes anyway?

    Cool!

Mali is really hot, of course, but it was funny to notice a little bit of Danny’s mannerisms there. Especially the fast talking. I’m guessing there’s a lot of her mother in there too, whoever that is (I’m not up-to-date on his personal life).

In any case, I’m looking forward to a future collaboration between father and daughter. It wouldn’t be the first time the Elfman family got together to create something film-related.

Well, Zimmer is not really a “pure” synth composer. He often merges elements of prog rock (rock beats, simultanous chord shifts etc.) with orchestral music – both sampled and acoustic.

After THIN RED LINE, he has veered more and more away from the power anthem that he defined in the late 80’s and into more textural soundscapes which I personally find very engrossing. The man never ceazes to amaze with his ability to renew himself.

    That’s cool!

I’ve always been a lover of electronic music (and Zimmer is my favourite composer after Williams, Elfman and Goldenthal), and that guy is a wizard in all things electronic, synthy, programs and the mix of acoustic and samples.

    Cool guy, cool music!

I think the existing Atlantic CD is a perfect representation of the score, and personally have no interest in this.

But give me BATMAN & ROBIN!!

Sounds far too generic for Elfman.

Probably just some library music of sorts.

    Did you make those, Wuce?

Really great stuff all around. Some are inspired by Elfman, some less so, but still very good musicianship. Great themes.

Herlig å se at filmmusikk-talentet blomstrer så bra i Norden! :)
