ParticipantCoraline score:
(no links to music tracks on YouTube, thanks!)

ParticipantHe probably…I don’t know…forgot to mention it. Don’t forget the man is in his `50s.

ParticipantThat interview was on YouTube back in 2006 but got deleted for some reason. I believe the interviewer was Charlie Rose.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantFinally…a Christan Bale franchise with some good music.

ParticipantYea…he wasn’t too crazy about Warren Beatty. I recall that when the feud with Sam Raimi was first reported he said something like, “I’ve had bad experiences with directors, like Warren Beatty for example, but nothing was worse than Sam during Spider-Man 2.”
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIt’s possible that we may get a “Wanted” or “Planet of the Apes” type score…but I don’t know. Elfman said in the interview that he wants to something fun. So…we may actually get some old school Elfman in this movie.
By the way, isn’t it funny that Elfman has worked with both McG and Brett Ratner? lol. The man does not discriminate.

ParticipantIn other news…looks like WB paid some people good money to have The Dark Knight score by that hack Hans Zimmer back in competition.
Academy Reverses Decision on Dark Knight Score!
Source: Variety
December 9, 2008Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard are back in contention for an Oscar nomination, reports Variety.
The Music Branch Executive Committee of the Academy has reversed its Nov. 10 decision declaring their score for The Dark Knight ineligible for the 2008 Academy Awards.
The score was disqualified due to five names being listed as composers on the music cue sheet.
After reviewing information submitted by the affected parties, the committee concluded that two, Zimmer and Howard, were responsible for the score’s authorship.

ParticipantThat Brokeback Mountain score in 2005. It’s considered a joke now cause of all those YouTube videos using the score for Brokeback spoofs, but it’s still a great piece of music nonetheless.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantI guess I can live with a MILK best score nomination, but “The Little Things” needs a Best Song nomination. Especially since that means that Elfman would be performing it at the telecast. Even if he loses one or both awards just seeing him perform would be satisfying.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantSeems a bit over-priced. Then again…its only 3,000 copies.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYea, it reminds me a little of Big Fish as well.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIf John Williams wasn’t semi-retired he would have been the ideal choice. However…like Chris Griffin says, “Now we’re gonna have to do this with Danny Elfman.”
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantJust because a movie gets a Best Picture nod doesn’t mean the score will be nominated as well. In fact, two of Danny’s Oscar nods (Men in Black and Big Fish) were for movies that didn’t really get that many nominations. However, that being said, it CAN help. That would explain the nomination for the lackluster Good Will Hunting.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantHe’s right. I don’t think most people even remember the score to that movie. So, yea, complete freedom.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYou never know, man. Maybe Raimi and Elfman will be friends again. Let’s not forget the `94-`96 Elfman-Burton feud.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantwhoa. Drive-by shooting joke? lol.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantI say it’s a tie to be honest. Some scenes Elfman did a better job and some Silvestri did a better job. HOWEVER, what gives Elfman the advantage is that he actually, you know, USED the Mission: Impossible theme. I think that’s what ultimately got Silvestri fired. Based on the music we’re hearing it seems like he refused to use the MI theme. Which Danny, surprisingly, didn’t have a problem using.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantAh yes. I am pleased to say the least. Especially since, as I said in one of my previous threads, that he would be great for this.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantGreat interview.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIn case you guys don’t have time (or just don’t feel like watching the entire video) he’s a link to the music:
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYou mean the “jolly” Batman theme?
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantCBS.
EDIT:
I just double checked and the video has NOT been taken down.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantEven younger than that. I’ve been an Elfman fan before I even knew who Danny Elfman was.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantHoly Crap. You’re right. We SHOULD be thankful that we didn’t get cover songs by Hannah Montana and the Jonas Bros. That would have just sucked.
