ParticipantIt HAD to be a last minute thing. It’s not everyday that Elfman writes songs for movies. He’s only done it like 5 times. Or 6 if you count Weird Science.

ParticipantIndeed it would. The song had a more ‘normal’ sound to it,. Which is a depature from Boingo’s zany sound.

ParticipantThat song is awesome! After an okay-ish 2006 and 2007, Elfman has give us something GREAT.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantWAY better than Kingdom.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIts the first thing you hear.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantThe ONLY reason I’d buy this is because its a re-recording. Otherwise I wouldn’t since I own all those scores.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantlol. I doubt it. They haven’t even started working on a screenplay. I don’t see this movie starting production till 2010. By then Miley Cyrus would be the next Britney Spears.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantcan’t wait.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantThat’s cool.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantClassic Williams. And its nice to hear the return of Marion’s theme.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantlol. Although LoDuca did contribute music to Spider-Man 2 that ended up not being used.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantYea, I can kinda hear it. Well, Marvel did insist on Elfman for Hulk so maybe his sound is the one they want for their movies. Lets see how the Incredible Hulk soundtrack turns out.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantSheffer has a website but there doesn’t seem to be any samples of his work. A shame. I love that track.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantI didn’t hear any Spider-Man music. As for Iron Man’s theme, it was alright. They should have just gone with the Black Sabbath song.
May 1, 2008 at 5:19 am in reply to: Elfman influences from Classical Composers – What are they? #60407Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantI’m not an expert on classical music or anything but I’m sure Elfman hasn’t stolen anything. He may have been a little TOO influenced a few times but I doubt he has completely stolen someone’s work. If he had people would have noticed and he would be considered a stealer. If Elfan is correct then perhaps Elfman is the Tarantino of the music world. When you watch a Tarantino movie you KNOW where everything is coming from but you’d never call him a stealer. He’s not actually stealing anything. He just been a little too influenced.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantHappy Birthday, Ryan.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantIs this it?

ParticipantThe most OBVIOUS influence on Elfman is NOT a classical composer but a fellow SCORE COMPOSER. That person is Bernard Herrmann. Has anyone heard Herrmann’s score for Fahrenheit 451? That score has Elfman written all over it.
Descent Into Mystery
Participantlol. Peter Jackson (who’s executive producing the movie) wouldn’t do that TWICE to him.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantHoward Shore returns. I guess this discussion is over.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantBut isn’t this a documentary? Most people aren’t gonna see this till its on TV or whatever. They need to start providing some samples.
Descent Into Mystery
ParticipantThe site should have added some samples.
