ParticipantElfman also did Family Man and Red Dragon commentaries.. I don’t remember any more…But I’m sure they’re still interesting. Planet of the Apes was still cool.. He talked about Batman a little.

ParticipantOH totally agreed. The Simpsons Commentary rules!
considering he already did Red Dragon.. I dunno. Does PSYCHO count..? I think it would be fun for him to talk about doing HERRMANN for two hours.

ParticipantI love the score.. The Main Title is one of my favorites and in my opinion one of his best! The movie was scored really well and I love to listen audio commentary on the DVD. It’s cool. Nick, you should really pick up this one. It’s really creepy at times but really cool and Dark! It is a great score. I don’t know about top 5 in the decade for sure… maybe! We still have a few scores left for the decade(if you count 2010). I would say a definite top 10. We’ll see!

ParticipantIf you haven’t yet, check out Ben Mankiewicz’s review of the movie. Although he is right about the movie, he kind of insults Elfman without really insulting Elfman. Go to the “At the Movies” site…

ParticipantAlso Giacchino did “Land of the Lost” just recently and if you know the old TV show there is a heavily featured banjo in the music. Giacchino did a great job with that on his yet to be released score for the film.. Can’t wait until it comes out.
Just thought that one was left out.. please continue…

ParticipantWow! It’s funny to hear totally different opinions. I was talking to a film composer friend today and he loves Coraline! And I think Giacchino is an amazing composer! It’s really cool to see what people think. So many different views.
Anyways.. I think Giacchino would be a good choice for a film score such as Spider Man 4.. but I don’t think he can “ADAPT” Elfman.. Sure he replace Elfman and put in his own style, but not adapt. Both composers styles are too different in my mind. Same with a lot of composers. Including Debney! Who will do an AWESOME job on Iron Man 2! Can’t wait. Iron Man score sucked! I hear it’s not an official thing yet but Debney himself has his fingers crossed!

ParticipantNo.. you’re fine. Star Trek, BTW, was much much better than Terminator Salvation. The Movies are very different but in my opinion the overall liking of the film went to Star Trek. It was phenomenal. I’m going to see it for a fourth time tomorrow! And the score is amazing but the theme is very very repetitive. I have to listen to TS more to find out which score I like better. It’ll probably be Elfman. But Giacchino has proven to be awesome.

ParticipantYAY! I finally got my soundtrack today! It’s awesome.. ! I love it!
Here’s a tip for everyone.. Don’t read reviews on it.. like on amazon or something. If your like me, you’ll get upset because people can be really stupid.
Anyways.. awesome effort by Elfman! Can’t wait to dive in 40 more times..

ParticipantI just got out of the movie.
So I thought the movie was good. The score was by far the best part for me! I don’t have the soundtrack yet(Soon hopefully), but what I heard was really really exciting. There were no problems for me with sound and foley and all that. I didn’t like the cheesiness. There were some pretty awkward parts. But the Terminator fight at the end is cool. That part when it comes out(I won’t ruin it for everyone) was worth the $8.25 I paid… well and the music of course.
Everyone should see it. Its cool to see how Elfman fits it all together.
