ParticipantI think I’ve read the story at least 3 times here. Although it didn’t say any names of tracks and scores, you could easily figure it out.

Participanta) most of the songs sound very Gilbert & Sullivan-esque – no refrains, straight ahead text and melody and
b) Brilliant vocal counterpoint!
c) The ochestrations are fantastic with the harpsichord, horns and the ww doubleing the singers.
d) The performances suck! Elfman is allright, but the rest should have taken some serious singing lessons.
e) Synth orchestra?! Either that or the mixing is really bad – I hope they will clean this up for the final release.I like it a lot better then Charlie, and I loved that!
Can’t wait for more.Pogel
Participant“There’s no way he will get nominated for any of those songs as they aren’t “original” songs written for the film. “
Since when? They are original songs written for the film, infact they were written before the film was made so they could be incorporated while shooting. That is what one calles “original song”.
I don’t see your problem.Pogel
Participant– SM3 hasn’t even started filming, there’s not even a finished script –
Exactly. Which is why he most definately will not score it, even if he will be asked to (which he won’t).
He wouldn’t make such a definate statement and say he couldn’t care less about who ever scores it that early if he kept his options open.
Probably too much bitterness involved. But so be it, I’d rather have an original Elfman score for anything else rather then a butchered mixture stuck somewhere between Temp-Track and re-scoring.Pogel
ParticipantOh-my-god!
That’s gotta be one of the lames rip-offs I’ve ever heared. Seems they shifted some notes so that instead of a memorable tune it plays musical nonsense.
It’s funny though.Pogel
ParticipantCool! They are doing table-reads, that’s fantastic!
I really hope Clausen will score it, he’s done such a magnificent job with the series and has also established his own themes and motifs (like chase motifs, fistfights, etc.), there would be a huge thing missing if he wouldn’t do the score.
Hopefully they’ll also incorporate some good Simpson-esque songs.May 27, 2005 at 12:46 am in reply to: if he’s not doing spiderman 3 then how about alan silversti #54075Pogel
ParticipantFor some reason, this remids me of the situation (musically) when Goldenthal took over Batman Forever. With fantastic results. I can’t wait, but is is still sad we won’t get another Elfman villain’s theme.

Participant“Doyle is scoring Harry Potter 4. He’s not a bad composer, but I’d never let him near Spidey.”
That would be a truely unique choice! Doyle on Spidey 3!

Pogel
ParticipantI think Ryan’s was better, simply because the timing was better (like Spidy juming of the builing after falling of)

ParticipantI can only add my thanks as well.
Though I would have started the final beat of Spidey stopping the train later and not re-edited it. If you start the last ‘movement’ of the cue right on the helicopter-shot of the train before he shoots the multiple webs, it works without editing.Anyway, it still makes the scene much more personal then the Young scored sequence.
Young scored a train slowing down. Elfman scored Spidy stopping the train.I like both versions, but Elfman’s certainly works better.
Thanks!
