ParticipantHe can conduct Dead Presidents, sure, but can he conduct “Scherzo” from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Op.61”?

ParticipantYes, in fact, he can play the fiddle — and yes, that scene with Danny in The Gift freaked me out, too.

ParticipantI remember a lot of people thinking Danny would have a cameo at the beginning of Red Dragon (me included). It turned out he didn’t (even though he scored the movie) but Schifrin did.
I’d imagine that he was asked to do it, but since Danny doesn’t know how to conduct he probably declined.

ParticipantIf I was directing or producing, I don’t know whom I would want to compose if I couldn’t have danny.

The Shadow score, I mean… Goldsmith scored it.

Participant“…I think Ottman is a great composer, proving himself as the next possible Goldsmith with his brilliant X2 score.”
Goldsmith, as in… JERRY Goldsmith? Heavens. Has Ottman been secretly composing Jerry Goldsmith-caliber scores? At any event, Ottman will really have to progress to be on par with The Shadow.

Participant“[The Fable Theme] should hold us over until Charlie and Coprse Bride come out.”
Well, no, sadly (it’s a long time ’till Charlie), but it’s a great cue, nevertheless. Sounds a bit like StarGate, oddly.
I love how Elfman mixes his old sensibilities with his new, most notably, the old-Burton macabre flourishes. “Everything that was old is now new again.”

ParticipantWhat an odd combination…
If this joint composition doesn’t work out, the producers might want to consider Rachel Portman and Vince DiCola as a good duo for Batman Begins. If that doesn’t pan out, they could always look into Klaus Badelt and Ennio Morricone to carry out scoring duties.
