Ya know, I gotta tell you…’Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ was my dream project. 5 Years ago when ‘Planet of the Apes’ came out, my friend and I were having a very nerdy conversation. Then he asked me, “If Tim Burton could remake any movie, what would it be?” Of course I said, “Hands down, Willy Wonka with Depp as Wonka and Elfman scoring!” Can I call ’em or what?

Other than that, I too wanna see Birton and Elfman do ‘Geek Love’; such a good book. As well, I’d love to hear Elfman tackle a western. I’m still pissed he didn’t score ‘Wild, Wild, West’. Movie sucked, but his score would have been amazing.

True, true, ‘Racing Stripes’, aka. “Horse Sh!t” was pure tripe wrapped in an A list (and a D list) cast. I knew that movie was gonna fail when I saw the first trailer. But, the source material was based on the scibblings of a 3 year-old retard. Whereas ‘Charlotte’s Web’ is based on a celebrated, award winning novel that every third grader HAD to read. Course, it was about 400 years since I last read it, but I think I remember that it was good. If anything you should compare it to the really GOOD movie “Babe” like everyone else is doing. All I know is, that I’m really looking forward to hearing Elfman going back to ‘Black Beauty’ territory. That is still his second most gorgeous score next to ‘Scissorhands’ in my opinion.

I noticed that too with the Main Titles playing over the river cruise, but I really thought that it worked so well with the sequence. It just had this great rhythm to it that really took me on a ride; I still get goose bumps watching it for the third time.

The last time the boat goes down the “rapids”, in the second section of the Main Titles, Danny changes it up a bit bringing out the horns full force using a different variation on the theme…subtle but brilliant (of course).

I must say that even after 3 weeks, I’m still really jazzed aout the whole experience. I mean, Burton/Elfman…(sigh)…my geedom is constantly gushing out of my pores; it’s actually making quite a mess in my apartment. All I can say is, that Corpse Bride can NOT get here soon enough!!

Well, I’m done typing. Until we meet again, Mr. Keyboard,

And let’s not forget about the opening credits. As we all know, Tim does the best opening credit sequences, and I put this one right up there with ‘Mars Attacks!’ Seeing these amazing visuals with Danny’s score…I couldn’t help but giggle to myself through the whole thing. The more I think about it, the more I ‘heart’ this movie. I can’t WAIT to see it again, and in IMAX.

No Problem…you would think that since we live in Hollywood (where the f-ing movies are MADE) that it would be no problem getting the Elfman we crave, yet…alas. Glad I could steer you in the right direction. It also sucks that you actually got CAUGHT on the LA subway. What a pain in the ass…damn Metro.

Oh Elfmanguy, I feel your pain brother. I first went to get it at midnight at the Virgin Megastore…nope. Tower Record’s nope. I got up this mornin’ went to 2 more stores…nothing. Then I tried Best Buy, shit out of uck there too. (Same thing happened to me with Spiderman 2). Right when I was about to put razor to hand, I called Borders Books….thank f-ing GOD they have it. I tell you, it was worth the effort. So, if you have any money left…try Borders.
