“What are you most looking forward to audiences seeing with this film?

WALTZ: Not only do I not know, I haven’t thought about it either. I can tell you what I am most looking forward to apart from the cut and how it all fits together: I want to hear Danny Elfman’s music!”

It’s genuinely always darkest before the dawn—especially for Elfman fans. 😉

It’s been two years since White Noise, and no new projects announced. His name has been in almost every review I’ve read of the film, but no score album announcement. Hollywood has a way of pushing problematic creatives out, only to welcome them back later. So I don’t think it’s the end of the line for Danny—I just think there’s not a lot of heat on him right now. That might be symptomatic of the entire industry, as there are so few notable scores so far this year, I’d be hard pressed to name five of them!

It seems entirely intentional that Elfman has not been part of the film’s promotion.

I have no complaints here—it’s all just presented flawlessly, and the additional material enhances the experience. I love that they included the Shirley Walker cue in there—it’s really in that early 90s sound, a la THE FLASH,

Turns out the post required approval, so something in the content got flagged. I’ve approved, so your latest attempt is now live.

Hmm, I’ve just tried and didn’t have any issues. Can you describe what you’re experiencing?

Thanks all for your patience while the forum has been down.

Since my host Mediatemple was assumed by GoDaddy, things have really gone down hill. I’ve dealt with more malicious files amongst my web files in the past year than a decade with Mediatemple. It’s been a constant pain in the ass to say the least.

Nothing to be too concerned with—just mild hijacks meant to redirect traffic to spam sites. User info, etc remain untouched.

Terrible timing too for Elfman fans. Sorry for the issues.

Chiming in again to say I’m excited by this one. It’s been THE title I’ve asked for—and one of those “expanded” titles that haven’t existed in the collector realm (if anyone here has had this all these years, shame on you for not sharing!)

The MCA album is sequenced so perfectly I’ll probably continue to revisit it often, but I think we need that additional music because we’re crazy.

Interesting you mention the Goblin theme—it’s the one I am always humming to myself! They are certainly the moments in the film, like the “mirror” scene, where Elfman really dials into the tone (maybe why newer gens think these films are “cheesy”?) The expansion is great, and look forward to part 2.

We’re in a nice groove right now with Elfman expansions. Keep it going!

I love these interviews where the subject lets loose with details. Lots of great insight in there. Takes awhile to get going though!

Not that I heard. There might be a single reference to the EVIL DEAD 2 score, but it’s been two weeks since I’ve seen the film.

I’m seeing this on Friday. EVIL DEAD 2 is my favourite film of all time. Little known factoid, this website was once based on the trio of Elfman, Burton and Sam Raimi!

I wonder how this is selling—did Rusted Wave and 1984 Publishing split the 500 copies, or are they selling from the same pile of 500 discs. Right now the CD is about 70% sold-out on both sites.

Chit-chat on this release has been surprisingly muted. I wonder how it’s selling for LLL. I would have guessed it would be a strong seller because of nostalgia. I have no problems with the set itself—it’s great. I only wish it was mastered a bit more aggressively. It’s noticeably quieter than the Sony OST.

Looking through this thread trying to construct a narrative… Elfman posted an Instagram about 65 in the first week of February that’s no longer there… how could he not be available to consult by randomly Michael Giacchino is?

Anyways, the film’s main theme firstbhear in track one reminds me of the last part/resolution of a theme from Dr Strange 2 (I think the “America” theme…)

This whole thing has been confusing… Elfman is listed as co-composer on the poster, but not the soundtrack album cover? 🤯

I guess we’ll find out tomorrow when it’s available to stream, uh, legitimately 😉
