KeymasterWhat makes me doubt that Universal hates the score is that Elfman went to the premiere of WANTED with the head of music for Universal, Kathy Nelson.
I’d like to get some confirmation for this news, which I am in the process of doing, but getting any kind of word at 2:30AM EST on a Saturday is difficult!
I’m told the commissioner has a file on this…

KeymasterFriday, June 27th was the busiest day on MFADP in a year (or since I’ve been keeping track!). 34% of pageviews were for the WANTED page. 73% of visitors were here for the first time. 200 of them came from superherohype.com!
It’s hard to believe that this site has been around for about 10 years or more and I only know who has been visiting for a year!

KeymasterYeah it’s very Prokofiev-ian.

KeymasterShawn Murphy recorded INDIANA, Dennis Sands recorded WANTED.

KeymasterI also noticed the smaller feel of WANTED, but that might be dictated by the film. I don’t know if a larger ensemble would be right for an action/thriller score like this. Perhaps Elfman has moved into a less-is-more mode, a la STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE and seeing the value of a more transparent sound, or his taste in mixing has changed.

KeymasterHere’s a video:

KeymasterYes, the process is very hard to say the least!! I spent some time putting a video together but couldn’t finish. It’s an endurance test!

KeymasterNo, generally when you sign up for a msg board it’s to share your enthusiasm on a subject, in this case it’s Danny Elfman, not specifically to make a negative comment about one of his scores. I’d like to see you contribute to other threads and then I’ll roll out the welcome mat!
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterYou registered on this board just to post that comment? Now THAT is pretty boring…

KeymasterLakeshore sent an advance CDr with no booklet, so I won’t know until I have a retail copy of the CD.

KeymasterHere’s another group, Hour of The Shipwreck, often reviewed with a mention of Danny Elfman…

Thanks!

KeymasterNorway was 21st, right behind Hungary and before Czech Republic.

KeymasterThey use the first half of “Batman To The Rescue” (crashing through the skylight) in the special features as well. Technically that cue is not called “Batman To The Rescue”, but since Batman is, well, coming to the rescue and the cue comes immediately before “Batman To The Rescue”, you could technically say they are part of the same piece.

KeymasterThanks, Richard. You’re always in the right place at the right time!

KeymasterPreviously Mr. Dantz said the score wasn’t knocking his socks off. He seems to have come around!

KeymasterI tried to dig up info on WANTED, all I could get from the label was a release date (see my earlier thread). Very cool that there’s a song.

KeymasterHere’s a new one, Laura Rossi’s score for THE COTTAGE:
“Laura’s orchestral score for the film will remind film music aficionados of the early Danny Elfman and, of course, genre icon Bernard Herrmann.”
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterI agree with some of the comments, this is a wasted opportunity, as the contents of this DVD are the same as the previous issue, plus three episodes of the cartoon.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterThat’s the theme? Pretty weak…
