KeymasterYou don’t want to be like Bryan Singer.

KeymasterYou actually have to find the link to the left. Every direct link to JoBlo automatically kicks you to their main page to make sure you don’t miss out on their scintilatting content…

KeymasterI’ve heard thousands of film scores, and I hear plenty in SUPERMAN RETURNS. While it’s great that you’re enjoying what you hear, you might want to temper your praise!

KeymasterWell, check out “Not Like The Train Set” for a nice little, er, reference to Elfman’s HULK.
The score is better than I thought it’d be, but it’s really a stitched together mishmash of temptrackitis.

KeymasterYeah, I agree. It’s probably not Elfman, but from a music library.

KeymasterThe song is credited to George Garcia. If there was info on the song available online then a search of his name and the title would have returned some results. The fact that a Google search of “Religioso Man (Religious Man)” yields 0 results regardless of who is credited should tell you how obscure the track is!

KeymasterI saw NACHO tonight. I’m a Jack Black fan, so there was plenty to like. Funny stuff – particularly his ballad for Encarnación.
Danny’s score was dialed into the background. It was strange to see that long list of cues credited to him scroll by.
Most frustrating was the final version of “Religioso Man (Religious Man)” by George Garcia (a song and artist that turns up zip on Google). There was apparently an orchestral/choral arrangement done to go along with the song, but even that felt muted in the film.

KeymasterI am working on redesigning the whole site. There’s no point in painting the walls in the old house while you’re building a new one!

KeymasterWith word on NACHO, I emailed Richard Kraft, Danny’s agent to ask whether the news was true and if he could shed some light on the subject. He replied with:
“Ryan,
Danny Elfman has not removed his name from NACHO LIBRE. He elected not to take a “Music by” credit.
Danny Elfman was brought in to do a replacement score on for the film. The final mix of the movie includes about 2/3rds of the score Elfman composed with the other third comprised of music retained from the first score (composed by Beck) as well as other music. For this reason, Elfman chose not to take a “Music by” credit on the film or advertisements. Instead, he decided to take credit for the cues he composed in the End Titles to properly identify his contributions to the final film.”

KeymasterThere’s no mention that SWEENEY will remain a musical. John Logan (GLADIATOR, THE AVIATOR) is adapting it for the screen.

KeymasterI would think that the prints for NACHO LIBRE have already been struck, so if this is true, it’s likely that Elfman’s name will still remain on the film.

KeymasterIt’s possible it’s from a stock music library that has simply riffed on BACK TO SCHOOL. Immediate Music does this all the time. A popular trailer track pops up, Immediate Music produces their own variation. BACK TO SCHOOL, in one variation or another, has been in trailers forever. I love that “Study Montage”!

KeymasterI always thought the guy that played Kenny Bania in Seinfeld could play Elfman.

KeymasterI don’t understand the title. Is it a riff on THE FIFTH ELEMENT? And why riff on a title of a sci-fi movie that was released 10 years ago and no one cares about anymore?

KeymasterInteresting. But those sweetened vocals are little too light for my tastes.

KeymasterMight be the percussion and vocals or perhaps that they are played by a diminutive East Indian man… And hail from a jungle-type setting. I don’t know many W.A.S.P cultures that hail from jungle regions!

KeymasterThat’s the version that John Mauceri conducted.

KeymasterWell, I was a small kid when they first aired. I can still remember the opening titles with the Native Indians gathering around the fire. The eps I remember most is the eps called “Go To The Head of The Class” directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Christopher Lloyd as a sadistic professor who ends up losing his head. Glad to have this CD!
Small world: Danny’s eps “Mummy, Daddy” was directed by William Dear (“Harry and The Hendersons”) whose cousin is my good friend’s mother.
