KeymasterI’m wondering if you can please check the inside rim of the disc and tell me if it says where the disc was manufactured. Mine was made by Cinram in Canada. What I am guessing is that Cinram manufactured the disc according to the artwork, with 20 tracks.

KeymasterI’m confused then because I have the top one – witness the scan – and it has 20 tracks both listed on the packaging and on the disc itself.

KeymasterHow many tracks does your disc have? Not listed on the back, but on the actual disc.

KeymasterI’ll forgive you for that, but not for coming across as a smug prick. I’m tiring of that.

KeymasterAll discs are labelled as 1993 – however my original NIGHTMARE disc that is scratched and will not play has 20 tracks. The final track runs 5:05. This disc was manufactured by Cinram.
Here is a side by side scan of the two:
Which disc do you all have?

KeymasterThe situation on SM2 was so contentious that Elfman told the filmmakers he wasn’t going to rewrite the temp track. I don’t think Elfman’s “Train/Appreciation” was part of the score proper — it was supposed to be “Anderton’s Great Escape” from MINORITY REPORT tracked right into the picture, if Raimi could have had his way. RCox’s post infers that Young shouldn’t follow Elfman’s blueprint because Raimi thought Elfman’s music was garbage. In fact, it was Elfman’s previous score that Raimi loved too much. That and the tracked in cues from HELLRAISER and MINORITY REPORT have nothing to do with the quality of Elfman’s music, rather the intense love of the temp track and Elfman’s integrity that ultimately had those cues left out of the picture.

KeymasterThat’s fine, that’s your opinion.
Now you must wear the scarlett letter

KeymasterRaimi never threw out Elfman’s music from SPIDER-MAN 2. There was reused material from SPIDER-MAN 1 in the film, for which Elfman had written alternative music for. Ultimately Raimi went with the stuff from 1. I wish everyone would search through the archives of posts here and read up on the entire SPIDER-MAN 2 situation which I have written about extensively. I had hoped it would clear up all the inaccuracies and misconceptions surrounding SM2.

KeymasterThe BROKEBACK theme heard in “The Wings” is a complete rip-off of James Horner’s APOLLO 13.

KeymasterNicely done. Seems to be some sort of European promo.

KeymasterI’m not sure if this is the current eps, but Yahoo! Movies lets you watch the program online here.

KeymasterIt’s so funny that this topic came up because last night I started fiddling with an Elfman suite myself. I am sequencing it in a random order; just picking cues without thinking too much about it and then cutting them down and into the piece. I figured it might be interesting to put together a suite of music that isn’t just big themes and highlights but little bits and pieces.
I usually use Adobe Audition for this type of thing but I’m trying Sony’s Vegas. With Vegas you can even create 5.1 audio, which is kind of cool.

KeymasterYou are welcome! Have fun with the music!

KeymasterIt breaks down like this:
“Serenada Schizophrena” was recorded in Los Angeles with John Mauceri conducting.
DEEP SEA 3D is thirty minutes of score based on material from “Serenada”.
The other 10 additional minutes of score was adapted by Deborah Lurie.
All the music has been recorded.
I emailed Richard Kraft last night to see if there was any plans to release the music and he said there are none at this time. This could change. I don’t consider myself high enough on the foodchain to get fed info like that, so perhaps Mr. Kraft is keeping the details to himself at this time. I am sure some film music outlet will have the news long before I find out!

KeymasterThey tried to get Elfman for the EDWARD ballet, but he was unavailable, sadly.

KeymasterYou’re wrong. Elfman wrote thirty minutes of music based on “Serenada” for DEEP SEA 3D. Deborah Lurie wrote an additional 10 minutes based on Elfman’s material. This is all original music for DEEP SEA 3D (the film is a 3D Imax movie, and runs just north of forty-minutes). Elfman managed to record “Serenada” by scoring DEEP SEA, so he didn’t sell out at all. The chance that “Serenada” will now be released on CD is directly because he scored DEEP SEA 3D!

KeymasterJim Steinman is doing the BATMAN musical. Or at least he was when the project was being developed.

KeymasterNo, he saved all that for the director… Ahaha. Sorry, not cool of me, but sooo easy.

KeymasterLook for a CD release entitled “Serenada Schizophrana Music from the Imax Film Deep Sea 3D” — or somewhere along those lines.

KeymasterI think anyone that goes up against Burton and thinks Warners has their back and not Burton’s they are sorely mistaken!

KeymasterI find this video amusing. It’s amusing that these university students find everything Smith says hilarious. It’s obvious that if Tim Burton was there speaking they’d be puckering up and kissing his ass too!

KeymasterIt’s not Limewire crediting Elfman with “Evil Theme”, it was some complete moron who originally created the mp3 and shared their files on a peer-to-peer network. It’s the same reason why there have been such bastard classics as “Crimson Tide Theme” by John Williams!

KeymasterWait, repeat that? You are working on a piece for which Academy? The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences? The Academy that celebrates the best in film?
I find it ironic if this is true that you are illegally downloading music! Ahaha. Better call Jack Valenti.
