WOW, I was floored by this. So unexpected.
The Selection is one of the most beautiful pieces Elfman has ever written.
Holy crap, that was great!
Wolf Suite sounds amazing, I’m hoping for a credits sequence where we get to hear this in all its glory.
The second piece is form Hellboy.
The last one I can’t recognize, but it definitely sounds like Elfman.
Heh, I know it’s a digital recording, but you know what I mean, no other recording in the past few years has that “open/airy” quality.
The only ones I think that come close to achieving it are Giacchino’s scores, which he does record in analog.
Can I just say that I ADORE the sound of this recording?
It sounds so raw, so alive, is that because of being recorded in analog?
No other Elfman score has that sound, which I can only compare with Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound.
That certainly was thrilling to watch.
Too bad it was ruined by those horrible, out-of-place Sandman and Black Suit themes.
I’ll die happy the day I can attend an Elfman concert where I can hear Batman, Pee Wee and NBC performed by a live orchestra.

Ugh, another reason for people to associate Elfman-Burton with the Hot Topic crowd. I hate seeing some people dismiss such talent because a certain group has adopted them as their own and reduced them to nothing but DARK.
The best part of this is that we will always have the original album and have the choice to simply avoid these kind of cash-ins.
LOL, I seriously can’t choose between this and Wanted. Both contain two of the best themes Elfman has ever written.
Has anyone seen the film yet and knows if the tracks are in chronological order [namely the seemingly out of place music at the end of Finale]?
So, what happened with those rumors that Del Toro was unhappy with the score?

You know reviewers rarely mention a film’s score in their writeups, but I’ve found two very positve Wanted reviews from two very reputable publications and both mention Elfman!

In my experience, the difference in image quality will ALWAYS be big between DVD and BD, and that is the case with this.
The difference in audio [this has a DTS-HD track], at least to my ears and with my setup, is HUGE.
There are some extras missing from the previous disc, but to me, video and audio quality trump everything else.
I can’t stand Manson the person or his music and POTA is one of my favorites, so I’m glad he had nothing to do with it.
I wonder if they worked closely at all during Dick Tracy and how was the relationship between the two.

I absolutely LOVED it and think it’s the best thing Burton has done since 1994.
Most critics also believe this, as the film is being raved across the board and now is one of the best reviewed films of the year.
The film will be nominated for a crapload of Oscars and I can see Depp winning.
