This is a very interesting read:

At times it may feel like one big Mac shilling, but it’s a very insightful look into Elfman’s MO.

Sitting on the guy that wrote the “The Full Monty”‘s score lap.

Seriously, were the people that voted for that on freaking CRACK?

Hmmm…I wonder if Danny has ever been here. I know his brother has a link to this website in his and I’m sure he has at least heard about it from him.

    Just in case, Hi, Danny!

I hate them, but if you google “Evanescence” you’ll find A LOT of articles of them saying they’ve been inspired by Elfman too.

“By the way, that piece is now stuck in my head.”

    GAH!! I know!!

Someone please make an mp3 out of that soon. It can be found at the beginning of the “Spyder-Cam” part of the documentary too.

As well as End Credits, music for Doc Ock’s demonstration and every other scene with music from the first film. A real shame.

I hope we get to hear some of that music someday.

I’ve been watching more of the extras and they are so great it’s not even funny. Quite possibly the best making-of documentary I’ve ever seen put together for a DVD.

There’s a great part called “Spider-Cam” and to my delight, the original music I talked about in my previous post that was supposed to play during the close-up swinging scene was used to introduce this feature. Fascinating stuff.

    GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I could shoot someone right now. Be it Sam Raimi or whomever was in charge of all the re-scoring. I’ll get to why in a minute.

I got an early copy of the DVD too and went right to the “Sound and Music” featurette. It lasts about 16 minutes, and about 6 and a half are dedicated to Elfman and the score.

Well, ironically, Danny’s section starts with guess what? A scoring session during which they are playing the original music for one of the re-scored scenes. That scene is when Peter is taking MJ’s and and the astronaut’s picture as they are coming down the stairs [awfully re-scored with “Main Titles”] and then with him swinging with the camera right on his face [re-scored with the choral part of “Parade Attack”]. The music during the swinging part is absolutely GORGEOUS. A very gentle and beautiful statement of the Spider-Man theme. I really hope one of you guys makes an mp3 out of that part because it’s worth it. It lasts like 15-20 seconds.

There’s another part of the scoring session where they are playing the scene when Peter is dumping the suit. The music is very similar to the part that was used in the film [The last moments of “Final Confrontation”]. I really don’t see why they felt the need to use the older stuff there.

Oh well. The movie looks and sounds spectacular. You’ll get chills when you get to the “He’s Back!” scene where they pumped that choir LOUD and it sounds amazing.

As I said, Yahoo wont let me attach a file bigger than 10MB, sorry.

If only someone would host it. I have no webspace and don’t know how to do it. Anyone willing to help? D-Bo?

    Hey Blunt,

I just tried to e-mail you the thing, but turns out that Yahoo won’t let me attach a file bigger than 10MB [this ad is 21MB] so I don’t know what to do.

Maybe I could send it to you through MSN Messenger or AIM or something like that or maybe someone that knows a little more about computer stuff could tell me how to compress the file.

    Thanks for you thoughts, guys.

And TL, reading that with with the newsreel announcer voice had me rolling on the floor.

I’ve learnt to dismiss most of what I read by internet armchair experts, but when I read stuff like that it pisses me off to no end.

    – The choral part of “He’s Back!” – SM2
    – The big statement of the Peter Parker theme at the end of “Final Confrontation” – SM
    – The bells at the end of “Finale” – Batman
    – There’s this part during the Jack and Sally Montage that kills me with its beauty, it goes from 3:07 to 3:51 – TNBC
