But hurry up, it seems like Disney is deleting the thing faster than it gets uploaded. I saved the .flv file anyway…

You tell me what music is used in the first sequence…:)

Well, it’s the anniversary of a score. A damn good one. But still a score…

I’m with Nick on this. Even a 320 kpbs bitrate is not what I’m looking for. I don’t mind albums being sold online and progress in general but I still want my cd as mp3 is still a rather amateurish format. When online stores will sell lossless albums, I’ll be able to live with the idea of no concrete release…

And what about that close-up at the end. Looks like the camera is about to fall on his head…

Although this expanded version wasn’t THAT essential, any CD with that Main Title is a must buy…

Or maybe, instead of ripping his Batman theme off Herrmann and Wagner’s work, he just asked Prince to write it…:D

I’ve bought it last Friday Mister Ryan ! :)

Good score, not a great one. The themes are very effective and the album does have its highlights (Opening, Fireside, Reveal/The Escape, the opening of A Solution) but I doubt it will be played a lot on my cd player. It’s just regular Elfman action cues, with lots of percussions, brasses and strings (the woodwinds are very discrete, not to say absent). It’s enjoyable but it does get generic from time to time (the film itself doesn’t look like a monument of subtlety anyway).
I’m also not fond of the album : it lacks some breathing and diversity; we’ll see how it sounds in the film and what was left off…

Decent score to help waiting for The Wolf Man and Alice…

I do know that songs that are actually in the film have to be recorded earlier if the scene(s) require(s) an interaction with them but in Burton on Burton, Burton does mention that Prince was supposed to write one or two of these but started to enjoyed it and composed a all bunch of others.
So technically, it is possible that Prince, while writing these additional songs, heard Elfman’s score, that was also recorded quite early, and adapted the theme. After all, Scandalous only appears in the end credits and you can always change that cue late in the game…

So, now that my highly hypotetical theory is settled, I’m going to check my Janet K. Halfyard book to see how wrong I am… :)

This T4 score is quite thematic actually, with two or three themes that you can easily hum after a first listen (even through it). Not that it means anything to me….but sadly it does to some people.

Yeah, that resemblance always made me wonder if this was pure coincidence or if Prince wrote the song after listening to Elfman’s music (hopefully…not the other way around !).

Jurassic Park ? I think there is already too much John Williams in that list !
Like the Times’ 100 most influential people in the world list, this one is mosty American-centred with too much JW and some major scores at the wrong position (Alexander Nevsky 98 !?) or simply absent. Even Beetlejuice feels out-of-place when scores like Comptent, L’Avventura or The Music Room are missing.
And let’s not talk about 8 1/2 and Once Upon A Time In America’s positions…
