ParticipantAny chance there’s an expanded Nightbreed in the works before I fork out for an expensive used copy?

ParticipantSome of Elfman’s score plays on the website if you play the archery game. http://www.epicthemovie.com/epic-movie-games/archery

ParticipantPressed.

ParticipantMy album arrived today. No linear notes as expected. The score takes a while to reveal itself like a lot of Elfman scores, there are at least two themes there despite other people claiming there are none.

ParticipantMarco Beltrami is scoring Carrie and James Horner is scoring Ender’s Game.

ParticipantOz is Danny’s 7th movie to pass £200M domestically, will overtake Charlie soon.

ParticipantA few websites claim Elfman is scoring ‘Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=mortal+instruments+danny+elfman&oq=mortal+instruments+danny+elfman&gs_l=hp.3…1498.10333.0.10578.24.22.0.1.1.0.175.2265.14j8.22.0…1.0…1c.1.8.psy-ab.vvTeMl–Jn8&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.44697112,d.d2k&fp=1d73a3b994f65f60&biw=1366&bih=667
Another quick google search says that Yared was (is?) set to score but he wouldn’t be Yared if he didn’t have to leave for whatever reason.

ParticipantI thought that maybe they were too random to be fake but I’ve just seen that now Wikipedia says Elfman scored Beautiful Creatures and Oblivion…

ParticipantWeird goings on on Elfman’s wikipedia page, which claims Elfman is scoring Woody Allen’s next film, About Time for Richard Curtis and comedy The Best Man Holiday.

Participant“The director also pointed out that the exciting, score for the film was composed by none other than Danny Elfman, and that it’s a throwback to the music of classic Hollywood action movies.”

ParticipantElfman was going to score Spider-Man 4.
Poor Christopher Young. Elfman was Raimi’s first choice for The Gift, Spider-Man 3, after Young scored SM3 Raimi still wanted Elfman for the fourth and after Drag Me To Hell Raimi said he missed Elfman on his last picture.

ParticipantFigured this could use a bump since Epic was recorded in Feb and there’s no future Elfman movies announced. I’m sure he’s taking a well earned break but what else could be coming up?
None of Burton, Raimi or Van Sant have officially committed to anything. Del Toro has a ‘gothic romance’ called Crimson Peak after he finishes with Pacific Rim. Paul Haggis (The Next Three Days) has a romantic drama out this fall, David O’ Russell (Silver Linings Playbook) has another drama too.

ParticipantThe scene were Oz repairs China Girl had some lovely unreleased music. The music when Oz is chased out of Kansas and when Glinda summons all the cloud over the field are missing too. Sounded like there was more action music for the end fight than there is on album too.

ParticipantI didn’t care for Kunis or the overly Disney ending but I really enjoyed it otherwise. I probably could have happily left after just the main titles, those were fantastic.
Raimi doesn’t seem to think he’ll direct the sequel.

ParticipantSaw the movie, had a blast. Score is mixed very well for the most part, the score survives sound effects but succumbs to cheering from the citizens of Oz a fair few times. Elfman’s score plays out the movie too which was a relief, the crappy Mariah song doesn’t play until after Elfman’s end credit cue.
The main titles are a phenomenal mix of imagery and music, really fantastic stuff there.

ParticipantRaimi gets asked about falling out with Elfman at 14:25 in this interview. He says that he’s mostly to blame.

ParticipantIt’s early days yet, but I think I like this even more than Alice. Which would make it may favourite Elfman score in I don’t know how many years.

A chunk of the score is now on Youtube. ‘The Preparation Montage’ is all kinds of awesome.

ParticipantRaimi’s been gushing about Elfman non-stop. I just watched a press conference and Raimi starting praising him to no end on a completely unrelated topic. Maybe Elfman will score the horror movie he’s currently writing with his brother?

ParticipantNew interview.
Scoring sessions featured in this b-roll too.

ParticipantNR: Beyond the incredible visual effects, story, and performances, you have music. Danny Elfman’s score fuses so perfectly with the imagery you’ve created – what was it like working with him on this project?
SR: Well, working with Danny was one of my favorite parts of the picture, working with a great composer like Danny Elfman because you work with a team of artists, creating the world, the look of it, and the cinematographer and the actors on bringing emotion to it, but really it’s only once the music goes on does it all seem like a complete thing. The music takes emotions that are in the scene and elevates them to higher levels. You think it’s one of the guys telling the story—”Oh, this is great. It’s working better.” It’s so exciting to be a part of that process. So I think, on this one, working with the composer Danny Elfman was my favorite part.
