Scoring for The Unknown Known begins in a few hours in Germany. I’m here in LA. Looking forward to getting all the materials once the recordings are done.Just got the album, no linear notes just pictures and a list of performers. Seems like the largest orchestra Elfman has used for a while.

One of the main themes sounds a lot like the Witches’ theme from Oz.

There are samples from the album on Amazon, but you have to go on each individual track to hear them.
Elfman gets a feature on the Blu-Ray.

Anyone seen the movie? I thought it was pretty good, I liked how ‘non-showy’ everything was. The only piece of score not on the album, I think, is the 15 or so seconds of ‘Turn Around’ that plays when Steve is driving.
According to FSM Elfman is still scoring this.
Any chance there’s an expanded Nightbreed in the works before I fork out for an expensive used copy?

My album arrived today. No linear notes as expected. The score takes a while to reveal itself like a lot of Elfman scores, there are at least two themes there despite other people claiming there are none.

Another quick google search says that Yared was (is?) set to score but he wouldn’t be Yared if he didn’t have to leave for whatever reason.
I thought that maybe they were too random to be fake but I’ve just seen that now Wikipedia says Elfman scored Beautiful Creatures and Oblivion…
Weird goings on on Elfman’s wikipedia page, which claims Elfman is scoring Woody Allen’s next film, About Time for Richard Curtis and comedy The Best Man Holiday.
