ParticipantCollaboration confirmed ! Elfman will work on this one

ParticipantI’m not sure there is so much unreleased music on this one, I don’t remember the movie as having a lot of score, and the original album is alreaddy quite long. Still, such a LaLaLand release would make this score easily available again – that’s alreaddy a good thing.
It’s a shame that there are rights problems with Dolores Claiborne, it would really be my Grail.Lambegue
ParticipantSo we won’t have any new score by Elfman until Christmas ?
Lambegue
ParticipantAre there any news about the recording ?

ParticipantIt’s quite a difficult book to adapt I think…I’ll be curious to see it, even if Elfman is not involved.

ParticipantElfman’s recent works for Van Sant movies are both very agreable album listening experiences, and very efficient in the movie I think. So, if I was Van Sant, I would not hesitate to hire him again.
But well…I’m maybe not completly objective : smiling smileyLambegue
ParticipantI think that it will be more and more frequent…Zimmer’s way of working is so popular nowadays, and allows such a quick work if necessary, that studios are getting used to it, and give shorter and shorter delays to any composer…

Participant“”Nightmare Before Christmas”-y choral arrangements” I can understand the comparison with Phillip Glass (even if I don’t agree with it’s negative aspect, I love both this score and Phillip Glass), but this ? That’s not because Elfman did the two of them that they have really enough in common to be associated like that…
I haven’t seen the movie yet (it’s not out in France), but I thought the music was well-used and adapted to the movie in SOP, so I suppose it’s the same here…

ParticipantThe release was planned for the summer in the US, as far as I remember…Did it changed ?

ParticipantIt’s even more surprising coming from La La Land, usually they realease scores quite completly

ParticipantI’m not quite sure…I have the feeling that both the trailer and the dance video have been made from bits and pieces of the ost, and that they have different mix…So maybe it is on the ost, but not in the presentation you are looking for. But again, I’m not sure at all. Plus, I haven’t seen the movie yet, but isn’t “main titles” the track that plays during the end credits ?
Still, it’s a very good work. Looks a lot like SOP, mainly orchestral, cold, hypnotic and nearly obsessive. It’s very powerful, I really love it. (And i would be happy to play the piano solo version of the theme)

ParticipantYes, and even probably “Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children” next year. And maybe even the new Gus Van Sant, “Sea of Trees”…And of course the recording of “Rabbit and Rogue”.
It’s a real pleasure to see so many exciting projects coming.April 2, 2014 at 4:32 pm in reply to: The Unknown Known: The Life and Times of Donald Rumsfeld. #67848Lambegue
ParticipantGood news ! It will be released by LaLaLand (8th of april) !

ParticipantStrange, I had nothing like that, just an ordinary booklet, not really well documented (no list of performers for example), but not so unusual or horrible either

ParticipantInteresting collaboration…

Participant“it seems so unlike his other work” : I love this score, but this precise commentary isn’t true IMO…
Lambegue
ParticipantHow many covers are there finally ?
1/ Peabody + Sherman
2/ Napoleon Peabody
3/ Roman Peabody
Are there other ones ?Lambegue
ParticipantYes for Zimmer, it is a part of his working process, he does it because he likes it, even more than because of the deadlines I think.
Lambegue
ParticipantThere are several additional composers on this one, it seems to be more and more frequent in Elfman’s scores. Do you know exactly how much work they do on a score ?
Lambegue
ParticipantYes, and even “The Fortune Teller” would be a pleasure.

ParticipantAt last !
Does anybody here have seen the ballet ?March 9, 2014 at 9:06 pm in reply to: The Unknown Known: The Life and Times of Donald Rumsfeld. #67795Lambegue
ParticipantI hope not. Maybe it’s quite old-fashioned to say this, but I really prefer cd to MP3 (even without talking about sound, I like the object…)

ParticipantLet’s hope there will a score release, even if it comes several months after the movie, because what we can hear in the trailer and on the Kraft-engel website is really wonderful.

ParticipantThe movie is not out yet, it will be quite soon.

ParticipantVery agreable listening experience, but not the easiest from Elfman. I’m very happy to have it.
