ParticipantHow’d we all miss this?
Danny Elfman Scoring Gus Van Sant’s ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot’

ParticipantNo love for Deep Roy?
Monsterhead
ParticipantThat would be great!

ParticipantI’ve heard that an expanded Mission: Impossible is on its way…

ParticipantGot mine over the weekend and I must say, its a fantastic expanded release. So great to hear Elfman’s musical canvas breathe across these two discs. I particularly liked Flattop’s Entrance, Kid Montage (unused in the movie),Tracy Gets Nabbed, Gasser and Mano a Mano. I was worried that all those short cues would feel like stop-and-go; but the cues flow nicely together. The alternate cues are subtle, but its nice to hear them included. Glimmers of Batman, but more of a precursor to The Flash and Darkman than I remembered. Its the Elfman I loved as a kid. Having listened to the original release many times over the past 26 years (!?), the remastering is an equally satisfying revelation.
This will be on repeat over the next few weeks for sure.

ParticipantWow. I didn’t expect another X-Men movie so fast

Monsterhead
ParticipantPretty cool. If I had the time, I would totally submit a short for this

ParticipantWhen LoDuca was interviewed for the Shout! release of AoD, he was asked about Danny’s contribution and chose to avoid the topic.

ParticipantI second what Ryan states above. It really is an unexpected treat to hear this is such crisp clarity; something I must have been listening to off and on for nearly half my life.
Really love hearing the Trailer score in full, but damned if I can recall Track 12 “Cloth World” — where does that scene happen in the movie?
Monsterhead
ParticipantThe opening credits is a total misfire, in my opinion and not indicative of the rest of the wonderful score. I found myself replaying quite a few of the tracks. So far, I’m really loving it and can’t wait to see/hear the score in the movie.
Monsterhead
ParticipantEh, probably so…

ParticipantSkip it. Its more for horror soundtrack collectors, not Elfman fans

ParticipantGreat news! But did you guys see this little piece of news under the Beetlejuice clip?
Monsterhead
ParticipantNever been a fan, personally. Sad news nonetheless. The score of his that I always liked the best, HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS, I suspect was temped with PEE WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE — they sound so similar.
Monsterhead
ParticipantDamn. I was in the middle of listening to the tracks as the files were being removed. Sounded good to me and I had a hard time distinguishing Tyler from Elfman a few times.

ParticipantHow do we know a composer does not need extra help, even on smaller scores? Is it not possible that additional composers are brought in to satisfy studio brass and directors, writing alternate cues to chose from? Sounds like we should be upset at the state of the film industry, not the craftspeople who work in it.
Monsterhead
ParticipantWow. It looks unbearable.
Monsterhead
ParticipantUnless you have music samples that are rare and/or unique – I say ditch ’em. Greatly looking forward to the new site design!
Monsterhead
ParticipantI’d love to hear new Elfman music for this, but being a Netflix movie, am I the only one who doubts he’ll get involved? Who knows, really. I’m sure he’d have lots of creative freedom on this project.
