ParticipantYou can also order by phone: 1-800-ASK-TOWER.
It doesn’t look as though the autograph offer is only good if you order online, so maybe try calling (but their phone hours are only Mon-Fri, 6am-6pm).

ParticipantRoald Dahl wrote the lyric as “…if we can get him back his height / but if we can’t, it serves him right.” (I checked the book just to make sure!)
I know Elfman changed some of Dahl’s words here and there for the movie, but to me, it really sounds like that’s what the Oompahs are singing… even though that’s not what the CD booklet says. Plus, “height” and “right” rhyme better than “size” and “right.”
But that’s just my opinion! I could be wrong!

ParticipantI think one of the lyrics is printed incorrectly in the CD booklet: the end of Mike Teavee is written as “…if we can get him back to size / but if we can’t, it serves him right.”
However, I think it’s actually “…if we can get him back HIS HEIGHT”. That’s how it’s written in Roald Dahl’s book, and it sounds like that’s what’s being sung.

ParticipantWas there a version of the movie released in Germany that was actually DUBBED in German, with German translations of the songs as well? Did you see it?

ParticipantThe LYRICS were written by Roald Dahl… they are directly from his book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Elfman put Dahl’s lyrics to music. As the CD’s liner notes say (for the 4 Oompa Loompa songs):
“Music by Danny Elfman … Lyrics by Roald Dahl”

ParticipantWell, he could always win for “Wonka’s Welcome Song.”

Participant>Helena Bonham Carter in this old old house… It really reminded me of Big Fish.
Definitely! The crooked door in particular.

ParticipantWell, the music is original… but all of the lyrics were written by Roald Dahl (from his CATCF book, of course… tweaked only slightly by Elfman).

ParticipantThanks! I couldn’t remember if all of the other tracks (after the vocal songs) were already in order or not… I know sometimes they’re switched around a bit for the CD.

ParticipantAfter Mike Teavee has been shrunk, I remember thinking that his voice reminded me of the fly in Beetlejuice… but I can’t recall: does Mike actually say “Help me!” at one point?
Also: if we’re looking for references to other Elfman (not necessarily Burton) movies, remember that one of the programs being shown during the Mike Teavee song is “Psycho.”

ParticipantI had no idea that Elfman’s “Nightmare” music took such a critical beating! As far as I’ve known, people have always loved it. His songs are classic! (But maybe that’s just because I tend to hang out with fellow Elfman-lovers.)

ParticipantMy girlfriend and I brought along some chocolate-covered raisins… not much, but I think our mouths would have been watering throughout the whole movie if we hadn’t!!

ParticipantI admit it: I was one of the audience members that gasped when Charlie found the ticket!
Before seeing the movie, I had just re-read the book… and, as anyone else who has read the book may remember, Charlie does NOT find the ticket at that point; he buys one more Wonka bar with his change, and THAT’S when he finds it!
So, while watching the movie, I was thinking: “Okay, the NEXT bar is when he’ll find the golden ticket” … then when he opened the bar and there it was, I WAS genuinely surprised!!

ParticipantDoes anyone use Friendster.com? Danny’s daughter Mali is (apparently) registered on there. I’m more inclined to believe that one, though, since none of her personal information is visible to the general public… basically just her name and photo. If it were a fake, I’d think the person would have posted all sorts of random info for everyone to see… like the Tim Burton and Danny Elfman ones.

ParticipantDuran Duran? That’s pretty funny.
On an a cappella radio show that I used to listen to in St. Louis, I once heard an a cappella cover of the Simpsons theme (I think by the Swingle Singers). It was great… a very clever arrangement.
