This was one of my favorite movies of the last few years. Danny’s score really helped in that department, of course. Looking forward to the next one.
Ryan PParticipantI don’t know. “Wonder Woman” left me with hope that DC can still make great movies. I enjoyed Batman V Superman for what it was, but Suicide Squad was just terrible.
I am interested to hear what Elfman does with this. Did JunkieXL write any of the score yet? If so, will Elfman adapt it or use his own?
I don’t really recall anything special about Batman V Superman’s score, so I can’t say I’d miss JunkieXL :/By the way, I like the new forum. It’s been awhile since I’ve been on here.
Ryan PParticipantI’ll fly down, too! I went to Anaheim for the Music from Tim Burton concert. Greatest music night of my life. The crowd went wild when ‘Batman’ started playing.
Ryan PParticipantI saw the credits on the poster and noticed no Elfman. I was really looking forward to this one musically.
Ryan PParticipantI liked the original Frankenweenie. The remake didn’t really add much to the story and felt a little dragged out.
Ryan PParticipantI am looking forward to trailers, photos, music cues for this film. Burton really needs a good film under his belt again. He will always be my favorite director, but Dark Shadows, Frankenweenie and Big Eyes were really off.
Peregrine has all of the ingredients for a truly epic Burton film and Elfman score.Ryan PParticipantddddeeee Wrote:

Ryan PParticipantThe Finale still gets me every time. A perfect swelling Superhero score as we pan up to Batman on a Gothic Cathedral, complete with church bells. Amazing.
Here’s hoping it will get played live in Anaheim.Ryan PParticipantHey, I’m just going by what Newton Howard told me. Maybe has has a reason for telling his side of the story the way he did.
Ryan PParticipantZimmer didn’t even do half of The Dark Knight or The Dark Knight Rises. He hired James Newton Howard to be a ghost composer. I spoke with Howard at a recent college graduation (he did the “keynote”, if you will) and he basically said that Zimmer wasn’t even there until the final editing process.
Kinda sad, really. Zimmer has made some great music in the past. And I can’t leave this topic without mentioning Zimmer’s lack of a Batman theme. Too scared to create a proper theme to follow Elfman’s iconic Batman?
Ryan PParticipantI’ll be going to the Anaheim show because I don’t think my daughter would appreciate not being able to trick or treat so her old man can go to a concert
Is anyone else going to the Anaheim show? Should we organize some sort of Elfman fanatic pre-show dinner??
By the way, I am extremely excited about this show. I can’t believe I will get to hear Elfman’s music live and actually get to see the legend himself.
As for surprises, how awesome would it be to see Siouxsie and the Banshees sing “Face to Face” live?
Ryan PParticipantWhy does it have to be on Halloween and only one night? I don’t think my daughter would appreciate missing trick or treating so dad could go to a concert. Bummer!
Ryan PParticipantHey, Ryan, is the extended La La Land release worth the extra tracks?
Ryan PParticipantIt definitely is one of Danny’s unique pieces.
Ryan PParticipantI’m reading the book right now. It starts out a lot more normal than I would have imagined, but about a quarter of the way through the weirdness is beginning. It will be interesting to see how Burton adapts this, and I can already hear the excellent Elfman score in my head as I read!
Ryan PParticipantIris set to end it’s run January 19th, mostly due to poor sales. Kind of sad. It was supposed to be at the Dolby (Kodak) for many many more years.
If you live in LA or are visiting, now is the last time to see it.Ryan PParticipantI must say that I thoroughly enjoyed The Wolfman score and thought it was one of Danny’s best pieces in a long time.
Even it was spliced and hacked to death in the end, it was still very haunting.Ryan PParticipantWoops – didn’t see that you already posted this under the What’s coming at Comicon thread: http://elfman.filmmusic.com/forum/read.php?7,35962
Ryan PParticipantElfman’s Batman theme is classic and recognized all over the world as Batman’s theme song, so suck it Zimmer!
Ryan PParticipantSince you mentioned Dick Tracy, the main titles theme plays in the Hollywood section of Disney’s California Adventure.
Ryan PParticipantWell, Danny should just solve this problem by purchasing the rights to all of his music hehe I can dream!
Ryan PParticipantDarn music licensing…. Not only does it prevent music from being shared to the public, it prevents many of my favorite old TV shows from being released on DVD.
So, how did Elfman get the backing for volumes 1 & 2?
