I love “March of the Dead”. Perfectly captures that Herrmann/Harryhausen vibe that Elfman/Raimi were going for. I esp love the low brass/woodwinds.
Co-incidentally (bragging here) I met Sam Raimi last night. I did not ask him about Danny Elfman

That’s ridiculous. That’s like saying you won’t eat chocolate unless it comes in a box. Enjoy the music, any way it comes. We’re lucky anyone cares enough to release it, digitally, on CD or printed on a paper bag.
I was just listening to this on my iPod. Well, I thought I was. Turns out I was listening to the DVD audio rip… And was wondering why there were bad edit, volume dips and Tom Jones! Oops. Now I’ve selected the right album. Much, much better
Plus the additional tracks “Invasion”, “The Big Launch” and the final reel stuff minus the segways into Slim Whitman!
Well, the performance was to honor Chris Young, so it makes sense to make it about him… However if I were honoring Chris Young, the last score I’d perform would be SM3.
Saw it, loved it. I thought Chris Young’s work was perfect. This is Young’s genre, and he does his best here. SPIDER-MAN is not really his thing.
I got my copy today. I’d say it’s not quiet a home run, but more like a triple brought home with a sac bunt. More thoughts later. Don’t hesitate to buy!
I think the Rameses material was substantially different in the film than the suite on the OST. Danny wrote almost 50 minutes of music for the film too.
