    You’re welcome, and thank you!

I don’t know why I didn’t do this before. I get sheet music e-mails every week.

I think it that was that THE DEAD ZONE was Cronenberg’s first studio film and at that point he didn’t have the pull to hire his own composer, and Paramount wanted Michael Kamen.

Yep – it was “Legions of Darkness”. Here’s that clip again.

This will probably be what the main titles for SM3 sound like. Ahahaha.

Some of them are original, some of them are complete rips.

They have a tendency to record their own “versions” of themes and bits from original scores that are used in trailers, like ARMY OF DARKNESS, which became “The Black Legend”.

Immediate’s THEMES FOR ORCHESTRA & CHOIR rips off a lot of E.S. Posthumous’ UNEARTHED album, namely:

“Avenger” (which rips E.S.’ track “Pompei”, used in the POTA trailer)
    “Fahrenheit” (another E.S. rip)
“Euphrates” (yes, another E.S. rip, this time a rip of the track used in trailers for UNFAITHFUL, THE CLEARING and others)

    Also in there…
“All Hell Breaks Loose” (rips Arnold’s STARGATE which was used in the VOLCANO trailer)
“Ultimatum”, “Final Omen 2.0” and “Return to Willowbrook” (huge rips of Shore’s FELLOWSHIP score)
“Salvation” (big ass chorale version of the DRAGON theme!!)

My favorite tracks from the set are “Crusade”, “Serenata” (shame, another E.S. rip!), “Holy”, “Hidden Fortress”, “Proud Nation” and my number one favorite, “Worlds Apart”. If anyone is interested in hearing this track, please let me know. It’s not Elfmanish at all, however.

Spider-Fan, “The Black Legend” is in fact a rip-off of LoDuca’s ARMY OF DARKNESS. Immediate Music has a practice where if a cue from an original score is used in a trailer successfully (like ARMY was in the trailer for CUTTHROAT ISLAND) they rip that music off for one of their compilations. Their “Music For Orchestra & Choir” set is riddled with rips of LORD OF THE RINGS, the E.S. Posthumous album UNEARTHED (used in the PLANET OF THE APES trailer, et al) among others.

As far as I know it originated on a LA radio station’s website, so I’d anticipate lines of goths, nerds and freaks! ;)

If anyone does end up going, hook a brother up!

SLEDGE HAMMER was a cop comedy. The lead was totally dry and seemingly unaware of what was going on around him. If I remember correctly, SLEDGE HAMMER was the name of the cop and his M.O. Sadly, I remember this show (sad, because talking about it makes me feel OLD!). It aired when I was a kid and I believe Anchor Bay released the series on DVD in ’04.

Elfman’s theme was a sort of Mancini type thing. I have a file of it somewhere, but it’s also available on one of the TVT Tube Tunes compilations (which I have – but where is it when I need it!?!?)

I think I’m the biggest sell-out here. I buy my clothes from American Eagle, and now that Abercrombie has opened in Toronto (finally!!), I no longer have to beat it across the border into the B-lo to get my overpriced, self-esteem-robbing A&F attire.

I wish I had a funky style, but I prefer to leave the oddities to the music and movies.

I think “The Finale” in the film is shorter. There are a few differences – particularly in the wedding sequences. Music on the album not in the film, that sort of thing.

It’s very true that Williams uses orchestrators – in fact I believe he always has. They are not credited in the CD credits but are always included in the end titles crawl for the films. Williams has worked with Conrad Pope for some years, but has also worked with Herbert Spencer on some of his legendary scores.

This is an often discussed topic. It’s widely accepted that Danny Elfman’s mock-ups are complete and that Steve Bartek makes corrections and adjustments. Bartek and Elfman have worked together for twenty years. They obviously have a shorthand and Bartek knows Elfman’s music better than anyone.

Most of the big time film composers working in Hollywood use orchestrators.

And guitarfreak, I had no idea you were a female.

I hated THE LION KING. Just the bottom of the barrell marketing clap-trap from Disney with ultra-lame Elton John songs! I wonder what all of those neo-con parents told their kids when Uncle Elton got married to another man. Ahaha ;)

This is a great game score, but it never reminded me of Elfman, beyond the busy orchestrations.
