KeymasterIt’s very true that Williams uses orchestrators – in fact I believe he always has. They are not credited in the CD credits but are always included in the end titles crawl for the films. Williams has worked with Conrad Pope for some years, but has also worked with Herbert Spencer on some of his legendary scores.

KeymasterThis is an often discussed topic. It’s widely accepted that Danny Elfman’s mock-ups are complete and that Steve Bartek makes corrections and adjustments. Bartek and Elfman have worked together for twenty years. They obviously have a shorthand and Bartek knows Elfman’s music better than anyone.
Most of the big time film composers working in Hollywood use orchestrators.

KeymasterIt’s really difficult to get in. You’d probably have to be the guest of someone invited to the session, or have a friend involved with the production. When I visited L.A. my friend Chris Tilton got me into a LOST scoring session, which was great. However, it’s difficult to take people into the session if you don’t know them because they are fairly serious ($$) and if that person ends up being an ass it’s not the composers you have to worry about! Studio execs, directors, producers – all can flip out because of bad behaviour.

KeymasterIt might have to do with the fact that a kid’s fantasy based on a classic book would do better in the Christmas season rather than the over-crowded summertime where 12-year-old-boys rule the cultural taste!

KeymasterAre we still on this GLORY in THE PASSION OF CHRIST? This was already a topic of dicussion months ago. THE PASSION and GLORY both reference Vaughn Williams’ “Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis”.
It bothers me that people grind their axe with PASSION because of it’s politics.
