I think there are some genuinely funny parts, but they’re all improvised by Carrey, and truly have nothing to do with the essence of the GRINCH story. The movie truly has no flow and without the bare-bones story, would be a complete mess.
I also thought the Whos were…. Ugly!

I don’t think RETURN OF THE KING was self-indulgent. People who followed all three films spent almost nine hours with these characters. I for one did not want to let go!

My favorite Christmas movie: CHRISTMAS VACATION followed closely by SCROOGED.
Make a movie set at Christmas time and it will live forever.

It’s also available at iTunes. I downloaded it yesterday, wasn’t blown away by the first listen. Subsequent listens have revealed more of JNH’s ideas, but as a whole the action music isn’t as fully developed, instead resorting to sheer volume.

I bought it today and watched the music segment (sorry, don’t have four hours to watch everything just yet!!). Great vintage stuff. Even a glimpse of the scoring session. I wish Elfman and Jackson would have collaborated again on KONG, but oh well, can’t get all my wishes.

It’s true. I don’t have specific details, but I’ve heard that either a) “Serenada” is being used for the IMAX film or b) both the IMAX film and “Serenada” are being recorded in the same sessions.
As you can see it’s quite frustrating relying on my trickle of information!

That’s great news. Certainly will be in the more “adult”, serious vein of ED WOOD if scripted by the same guys, or it could be assinine like their PROBLEM CHILD movie…

Are you kidding? FSM was one of Elfman’s biggest proponents in the late ’80s, early ’90s when all those nasty rumours were swirling. They still love him to this day.

The clips are on this site simply because it’s a small fish in a very big pond. Studios are much more concerned with torrent sites, download programs like Grokster, etc. to worry about lo-fi samples on a film composer website.

Additionally, the “Spider-Man Suite” is a piss-poor, fan-made suite used to pad out this set. Minus the suite, there is a little more than 34 minutes of extra music here.
