ParticipantReally excited about this.

ParticipantReal Steel only really stands out there, and even at that he only scored two of the fight scenes. He’s not really competing with gunshots or engines in the fantasy or animated movies, with the exception of Men In Black 3 which was a sequel.

ParticipantHe’d never say it of course but I can’t help but wonder if the absolutely terrible treatment of his score for Terminator: Salvation was a turning point. There seems to be a complete cut-off of ‘noisy’ blockbusters after that.

ParticipantI asked someone who saw it and he said the score is used sparingly and it’s his best in years. He then compared it to Arcade Fire’s Her score which I wasn’t a fan of.
ddddeeee
ParticipantHe said in ClassicFM that there are only three instruments in the score.

ParticipantDanny’s name has been removed everywhere and replaced with a Mason Bates.
The movie is finished and so it’s pretty safe to say Danny wasn’t involved.

ParticipantI’d have loved a CD release too but it doesn’t suggest that they fell out at all. Once Lana got involved Interscope got involved because that’s who she’s signed with, as far as I can tell Interscope don’t release scores. If anything we’re probably lucky to have got what we got.

ParticipantEllen name-drops Elfman.

ParticipantThe album art is now on Amazon.

ParticipantYeah that was Shore, he apparently got paid and doesn’t seem at all bitter about it in Jeff Bond’s book.
Sounds like he hasn’t signed on to Miss Peregrine yet.

ParticipantFour days with the the Hollywood symphony orchestra remember. None of the fansites are reporting this (and they’ve reported every minute detail about the movie) and the head of music at Universal described Elfman’s approach as low-key.
I don’t think these are legit, even the times are kind of off. The uploader even stuck a Vevo banner on the video to try and pass it off as real. That doesn’t even sound like Beyonce on the album sampler?

ParticipantYay

ParticipantThanks to Elevator-Man on SHH for finding this. Elfman’s score will be released on the 17th, hopefully on CD.

ParticipantI imagine the score for something like this would sell substantially better than your typical score. Still holding out hope.

ParticipantMore than I’d expected. Add the extra music from the album to the FYC presentation and you might have it all.
I might be wrong but I think ‘Opening’ from the FYC playlist might have been tracked in another time too.

ParticipantLoved the movie. Funny, moving and a tonal change into a horror movie for five minutes that’s comfortably the most unsettling thing Burton’s ever filmed.
Main title sequence with Elfman score! The ‘Victory’ cue on the FYC website is another version of the latter part of the main title so it there is something bookending it. It also gets a little reprise during the postscript. Lana’s song only plays for a little while and it’s mostly the instrumental.
Score’s mixed very prominantly too. Definitely need to see the movie to appreciate the score more I think.

ParticipantI enjoy a lot of his music but Zimmer’s anecdotes about how innovative his work is are really greating at this point. Elfman and Powell’s self-deprecation makes for more engaging interviews.
ddddeeee
ParticipantThere’s music on the album not on the FYC site.
Anyway I guess Lalaland will release this in ten years haha.

ParticipantAlbum released, six Elfman tracks.

ParticipantLana’s songs are going on iTunes on the 23rd.

ParticipantA little from Elfman on the score here.

ParticipantHmm. I dunno. I liked parts a lot, mostly the Newman sort of stuff. But I thought a fair bit was a little dull to be honest…
Edit: Its growing on me. Can’t help but wish the score was more like ‘Margaret’s Apartment’ though, that’s a lovely track.

ParticipantOrdered Pee Wee, I’ve only heard a few minutes of this one so I’m excited. We’ll see about the Batman set, it would be my forth copy of the first score.
Wonder what’s next? We know Midnight Run is coming sometime… Hoping some label can give Family Man a proper release and I’d love an expanded Dolores Claiborne if that’s even on Varese’s radar.

ParticipantThe Weekend collaboration?
