ParticipantI’m with you, Danny Burton…. but as time goes by, I’m guessing that’s all a pipe dream.
Ryan — please let us know!!

ParticipantDanny Elfman is brilliant. One day, the earth will be filled with only those who know this. Non-worshippers will be locked in a box, and sent second-class via UPS to a little planet I like to call Pluto.

ParticipantThanks for the great answers everyone…. they’re much appreciated. I’m fairly certain that Chris Young won’t be back for Spider-Man 3, seeing as he didn’t really provide overall what Raimi wanted. My hopes are that Raimi somehow appeases Danny… although I don’t see that happening. Don’t really know what direction I want them to go with after that.
I really don’t want any nobody come in and try to sample Danny’s work. I was talking with my wife who I’m trying to get to understand about composed music… and even she recognized that the main theme applied to Spider-Man is just a collection of three primary notes that are under the fingers of a puppet-master. Anyone else would do his work a disservice.
Not having Danny is a problem for Raimi.

ParticipantSam didn’t “make” Danny do anything… although he put him in a bad place.
Word is now that in addition to what Dunst (aka Dunce) said before about the two villians being Sandy and Venom, she hinted that it’d be “two and a half” villians… so my guess is we’ll see some sort of transfer with Harry, and they’ll have the whole cast back for one more show.
Venom deserves his own movie as far as I’m concerned, so this news (if it’s true… Dunst has been known to leak total crap) really isn’t great news for me. Sandman isn’t exactly my first choice for a villian, and Venom (if done in these movies) needs to be set up from the flick before and then introduced by the end of the movie. They’re trying to cram too much in this flick, and I’m not liking it.
Of course, I’ve been pissed off with this movie ever since I heard no Danny! I’m with Spider-Fan… I’ve lost some respect for Raimi now.

ParticipantThanks Guitar Freak!

ParticipantAnother Bats film would be great, but I could live with him not doing one.
— DEFINATELY Spider-Man 3. He MUST complete the trilogy.
— X-Men 3… of course, that ain’t gonna happen.
— If they made a “Glass Elevator” movie with Tim in charge, by all means, I’d expect an Elfman score.
— Prince of Persia movie that’s in the early stages of production… I think he’d do a bang up job considering his use of the occassional Indian/Arabian-type instruments. I could imagine a very powerful score. My back up composer here would be Mychael Danna.
— Someone said a Pixar movie? Well, I had an idea for a “Mario” (Nintendo) movie to be done by Pixar… something to get the awful stench of that original live action crap they tried to do earlier in the 90’s. Pixar + Mario + Elfman = GOLD!
— Speaking of video games, I’d like to see a live-action Zelda. Very complicated casting, and the story would have to be well-developed… but if they focused on Link and made him a truly complex individual, I could see it working… with that, I think this is where Elfman shines: complex characters seem to be his specialty, and I’d love a score using rough cuts of the existing theme… and working with the likes of Koji Kondo to produce a truly epic score that is nothing but 100% Elfman goodness in the center!
There’s others I can’t think of, off hand, but the bottom line is, any movie that centers of characters or complex individuals is where Elfman seems to take it to another level. Any movie that encompasses that, I would DEFINATELY like to hear an Elfman score for!

ParticipantI have an old 1gig MP3 player that is PURELY older Elfman stuff… everything from Batman to Scissorhands… from Dick Tracy to BeetleJuice… all the good stuff. I also have a 20gig Ipod with a bunch of other movie scores, and some newer Elfman stuff — which of course, I love as well.
Guess which one I listen to more, though.
Kipobe
ParticipantI think that was implied.

ParticipantThanks. November 8th would be great. I know Batman Begins is coming out October 18th and it was released exactly one month prior to CatCF at the theaters.
PS – Kinda off-topic, but Spider-Fan, have you ever posted over at SHH?
Kipobe
ParticipantBy all means, sure. That’s pretty much what I thought as it is… if you’re successful in anyway, please be sure to list your success here as I know there are many people interested in having that piece of music in their collection.
Thanks.

ParticipantThis has been debated quite a bit… not only here, but all over the place.
First off, no, it’s not Danny. The first half of the trailer is, the second half isn’t.
Secondly, it’s reported to be James Newton Howard for his work on the movie Peter Pan.
Third, you won’t find it on the OST, as it is not a track that is on there… but possibly somewhere in the movie. Who knows, it could even be from a cue that was never released either in the film, or on the soundtrack.
If you happen to find it, by all means, please post a link.

ParticipantI’m sure there’ll be tons more… I could see Tim making sure Danny gets alot of airtime on the specials, since he was played such a huge part in the movies. People who haven’t even seen the film know the songs… at least the Wonka Welcome song.
Yeah, I’m really hoping for alot from the DVD extras. Anyone know when it’ll be released yet?!
Kipobe
ParticipantBut what exactly are you saying though?

ParticipantToo true…. at least for the majority of his stuff. His X-2 score however was pretty damn good.

ParticipantThe part of the score that evokes the most emotion out of me musically is the closing moments of the Main Titles cue. Before I had the score… even before Ryan posted clips on the site, I just listened to that segment over and over again from the Movie site. it’s phenominal. 4:16 – 4:42. I think it’s in the media section of the offical site. Listen to it over and over… it’s extremely beautiful.
Brilliant stuff.
Kipobe
ParticipantIndeed…. a little jealous.
Nah, I’m okay with it… I look forward to the review.Kipobe
ParticipantLong story short: Elfman wasn’t treated well. Sony doesn’t deserve him, and they’re not gonna get him. Barring a miracle of astronomical proportions, then that’s the way it’s gonna be.
Too bad, I was waiting for THIS score since the end of the FIRST film!

ParticipantIt’s nice to see someone elses realization of this man’s talent. He is far far farrr too underappreciated; not only in his craft, but by movie goers everywhere. Musically, he wraps my brain up in knots trying to understand everything and every note… but then you listen to it over and over, and you just get it. He’s… he’s like the Willy Wonka of music: kinda creepy, but limitless in talent and creativity!
Kipobe
Participant2001 music definately. I loved the music when Charlie found the money and then the ticket… and then he ran home.
And while we’re on it, I loved the trailer music that was supposedly done by JNH.
Kipobe
ParticipantI know what you mean, Spider-Fan. That Spider-Man score did that for me too… although I was anticipating it from the time I heard he was attached to compose it. Up until then, I’d of considered myself more of a casual fan of the Elfmeister. That “Farewell” track is really phenominal. I’ll miss him on this third film.
Kipobe
ParticipantHee…. whoops. Wrong thread…
Kipobe
ParticipantI just listened to it again… I really like it. The beginning is also very Elfmanesque in so much that it has a “childish” appeal to it (something Elfman would write for a christmas time movie…. specifically Batman Returns — parts of “The Cemetery” comes to mind)
Please, continue composing. This world needs more talented composers.
Kipobe
ParticipantYeah, same here. eBay, or Amazon.com
…or you can shop for more recent stuff on iTunes.
Kipobe
ParticipantI know I’ve read that it was from that movie several times…. you’re saying it’s not?
