ParticipantYeah, it is a great movie and a great ‘forgotten’ score by Herrmann. The full score was released by Film Score Monthly not long ago. The best piece in the film, “The Death Hunt” is featured on the CD by Charles Gerhardt and The National Philharminic Orchestra; “Citezen Kane: The Classic Film Scores of Bernard Herrmann.” I think it may be out of print, but well worth finding. This re-recording is far superior to the original. Frankly, it IS one of the most thrilling pieces of film music ever written. I’ve got lots of obscure Herrmann stuff, and that is one of my very favorites…
Is it so dead here we have to talk about film noir music from the 40’s/50’s? Sheesh….
Monsterhead
ParticipantThat was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while…thanks for sharing. I always liked Shaiman’s stuff too…

ParticipantJULY 2006!!!
Aww, man. I totally missed it, when will that be coming out on DVD? This looks like the best Aniston film since DERAILED…
Loved the music what was it from? Can’t wait to see this film!
Yes, I am joking…

ParticipantThough it was a Walt Disney cartoon, Ub Iwerks actually drew and animated “The Skeleton Dance”. I noticed it right away when I saw COPRSE BRIDE in the theater.
Fans of spooky old skeleton cartoons should catch another great “skeleton” short hat Iwerks made in the 1930’s called “Spooks”, starring the ill-fated Flip The Frog. Its on the DVD “Cartoons That Time Forgot Volume 2”.

ParticipantAgreed. Charming, lovely lady…
Monsterhead
ParticipantChrist, does anyone watch that show….?
Monsterhead
ParticipantYeah, I’m in L.A Would be very interested in seeing the show…

ParticipantLookin’ good Bridget dear! You know, when I worked at the B&N in Hollywood, she used to come in with her and Danny’s son all the time. She was always the nicest, unassuming person – in fact I did not recognize her at first.
I always treated her the same as anyone else, but one day I decided to be a smart-ass. She was buying books about Tim Burton (this was in the summer of 06) and CHARLIE had just come out. I asked if she was a fan of Burton’s movies and she said ‘yes’. I asked again if she saw CHARLIE to which she replied ‘yes’, again. I followed that up by telling her that I thought the music was really great, and she humbly responded that she did as well.
She left the store when I finished ringing up her items and then almost immediately walked back in – with her child’s nanny and infant in arm.
“Did you mention the music because you know that I’m married to Danny, or did you just say it?” she asked
“No, I know that you’re married to him”, I told her
She smiled and said, “Thanks! I’ll tell him you said so”, then left.
That is the closest I ever got to the man.
No wait! There was THE COPRSE BRIDE DVD signing in February. I shook his hand then, but he was cranky about being there…
The Bridget experience was more unique.

ParticipantWell, whatever happened. I’m glad he didn’t do it, the movie sucks. Though I seem to recall hearing Shore’s music for it and thought it was pretty good…
Monsterhead
ParticipantYeah, and Cohen is not confirmed for SWEENEY. I have a feeling it won’t happen…
But did Elfman “turn down” DOGMA, or just not have time to do it?Monsterhead
ParticipantI agree Ryan. It’s easy to lambast a film before seeing it, and I for one am far from excited to see this movie. But I will admit, I’m sick to death of CG animated movies with animals – at least this looks interesting…
Monsterhead
Participanta growing list of decomposing composers…
too bad, I’m fans of all of them.
Monsterhead
ParticipantHoly Sh*t Ryan! Looks great. I thought I clicked the wrong URL at first until I looked closely. BRAVO!!
Monsterhead
ParticipantYes, that is me being clever. With all of Ryan’s cunning quips, it’s tough to maintain your footing in cyberspace…
Monsterhead
ParticipantWOW!!
Great to see that me and the Elfman have the same music library!!
Monsterhead
Participantugggghhhh. yeah, that too…..
Monsterhead
ParticipantCorrect. I read that too. Hopefully, if he gets anymore attention with his classical album – someone (Sony?) would take the chance….
Monsterhead
ParticipantCorrection Spider-Fan:
It was Elfman who replaced Beck, and not the other way around….
Lakeshore Records has a good track record with composers, but I think the audience for this album is different than your usual film score soundtrack.I believe Paramount liked Elfman’s score, though I did read a press release last summer from the studio saying that there were no plans for a CD.
Monsterhead
ParticipantYeah, that makes me all the more upset that we will be getting so little on the soundtrack….
Oh well.
Monsterhead
ParticipantShocking indeed, Ryan…..
Monsterhead
ParticipantNot out yet!!?!?!?!
The myspace page even says “Soundtrack availble October 17th” Today is the 23rd and I posted on the 20th….
Anyone else out there have the CD and a calendar?
Monsterhead
ParticipantThe current Special Edition is anamorphic. But at a 1.66 ratio, its hardly LAWRENCE OF ARABIA….
Monsterhead
ParticipantJesus Christ. That was f*cked up. Did I hear Dick Miller as a voice? Strange to see Jon Davison produced it – didn’t he do ROBOCOP?
So glad I finally saw it. Amazingly similar in story to FORBIDDEN ZONE…
Monsterhead
ParticipantI suspected we might see the soundtrack when the DVD arrives (same day – no?)
Good news, even if there is only a few Elfman tracks – it’s worth it. I suppose we’ll get Esquivel’s “Mucha Muchacha” on the CD.AGAIN….
Monsterhead
ParticipantOh, you’re all too quick to say it’s a stinker. Remember, they’re re-shooting stuff, to make it better. That’s a good thing, right? Now if they don’t screen it for critics, then we have an issue here…
