Yeah yeah, but actually, Mr. Dantz was asking how Schreck can possibly know that “the symphonic piece by Danny Elfman sounds great.”

    Has he heard it yet?

    Thanks for sharing, Ryan.
I like Christopher Young. I hate temp tracks.

That “G sharp, B flat, A” brass motif at the beginning… I seem to understand where Danny’s inspiration for Sleepy Hollow came from…

    And it’s indeed illegal, btw.

I rather think the “Scream 2” producers picked Danny because of his bizarre quality.

It does sound like a real string section spiced up with samples which is a common way to do when the budget does not allow a big orchestra (as pointed out before).

Anyway, Elfman uses Digital Perfomer for MIDI, sample triggering and stuff . ProTools is used for recording, audio arranging/editing and mixing. It’s MIDI features are a pain in the arse and are hardly used by anyone in the business. So no, it does not “perform”.

Sounds like it took him 2 hours to do.

I think his score for “Predator” was one of the best action scores ever.

    >he doesn’t like composing action scores.

I think that’s got to do with… sound fx and film producers ruining his music.

I think that Gregson-Williams is on of the most underrated composers out there.

    >What is “Grau”? Is it a film?

    Yes.

    >Those instruments sound like real live played instruments to me.

That’s what they are – with the exception of Track A where only the flute and the grand piano are real instruments.

    The other stuff comes from

    – Miroslav Vitous
    – Peter Siedlaczek
    – Symphony of Voices
    – Giga Harp

and some personal libraries recorded by myself.
I use Logic with the EXS24 for MIDI stuff and ProTools for the rest.

Thank you very much for all your nice comments! I appreciate it!

    >zimmer hasn’t done much interesting in my opinion since Thin Red Line/Gladiator days

He did “The Last Samurai”. His finest work to date IMO.
