KeymasterLet’s just say people are working on it.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterMaybe Peter Berg’s BATTLESHIP? HAHA
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterBoo for geo-targeting your videos, MTV.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterAwesome – congrats. I’m going in the new year.
Here’s an article and photos from the event:
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterYes, and Tom Ruegger was there to witness it with his own eyes. And ears.

KeymasterDanny Elfman is NOT scoring THE WOLF MAN.
Paul Haslinger is…
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterWhy didn’t you buy the CD and find out for yourself?

Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterScrooged!
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterYes, “Associate Producer” really is a frivolous credit. Harrison Ford’s ASSISTANT was credited as “Associate Producer” on K19 THE WIDOWMAKER, so that should tell you what it’s worth.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterI think it had more to do with the epic battle over credit. I am sure Danny Elfman felt partly responsible for helping to craft the story of the film with his songs (at that point there was no script). There might have been a point where he and Tim sort of battled over who would be credited with what.
Artists have egos afterall

It certainly doesn’t make sense that Burton was unhappy with Elfman’s songs, as you can clearly tell from the demos that they translated to the film almost exactly the same (a minor lyric change here or there).
It was 1993 and neither Tim or Danny had really experienced any major career blows, and after 1992, were both at the height of their powers. It makes perfect sense that they would rub each other the wrong way over a project they were clearly closely involved with.
Unfortunately we’ll have to wait a very long, long time to hear from either one about what really happened.

KeymasterI never liked them after they got all funky and stupid, sorry!
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterWas this post-jumped the shark Beatles?
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterThere was already a STAR WARS concert tour (Erich Kunzel), and frankly I don’t need to hear the Cantina band piece ever again.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterIt’s likely anything that Elfman owns rights to will eventually be licensed and released on album. Which is good news for us!
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterYeah, generally projectionists — or in some multiplexes, the least stupid usher — adjust volumes for kids/family films. There’s no way a child should be in a movie theater with that level of volume. It destroys their hearing very quickly! Imagine if you’re 35 and you can’t enjoy your Elfman anymore. Hearing damage is all the rage these days.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterI thought the score worked well in the film, even if it was dialed a little bit too low in the mix. Might have been the theater I was in, considering the movie is geared towards kids and most projectionists go light on the volume to not blow the kiddie’s ears.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterNo, that WAS in the movie, but was in the movie was not Elfman’s title. There’s a large chunk cut, and then Elfman’s cue is truncated again to shoe-horn in the Fiedel bit. If Elfman is putting together an album of his score, why would he even include that? The answer: he wouldn’t!
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterProbably because that’s now what Elfman originally intended for the main titles?

Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterIf I’m not mistaken the bootleg is a SFX rip. There’s also another bootleg with decent sound and no SFX. Then there is another version that sounds EX-CELL-ENT. I don’t think that one has circulated at all

Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterYou’re both… Wrong
There’s at least almost 20 minutes of score in the film, and about that much that never made the film. Many, many Elfman highlights here — the siege on Santa’s workshop, the “Humanitarian of The Year” cue (with an early hint at Elfman’s SPIDER-MAN theme), and the finale cue where “Calvin Speaks”. A very important entry in Elfman’s filmography, as his next was BATMAN.Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterWorld’s Worst Kept Secret?

SCROOGED, from La-La Land Records.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterIt is definitely stock trailer music, not original stuff from Elfman.
Ryan Keaveney
KeymasterThey dropped in “Crime Spree” over the picture. That’s all!
