You would need access to statistics compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.

Part 1 of GRINDHOUSE: ugly women with dialogue written by a man in a trashy bar with the world’s greatest juke box (yeah, right). Part 2: ugly women pretending to eat with dialogue written by a man. Part 1 & 2: uniformly terrible performances, wasting Mary Elizabeth Winstead, wasting Kurt Russell, and a climax tacked, stapled and taped on. This wasn’t a celebration of bad movies, this WAS a bad movie.

For the record I like RES DOGS, PULP FICTION and JACKIE BROWN. QT has run out of steam and goodwill. Time to wake up beatniks, as your leader has stopped banging the bongos and now you’re just grooving without a beat!

Well we disagree, because DEATH PROOF was the worst movie I’ve seen this year and I love B-grade schlock as much as the next guy. QT is a total whore too, lending his name to HOSTEL, the biggest POS I’ve seen in a decade and now DEATH PROOF, a pointless exercise in homage that is not much more than an excuse for the circle jerks to get together and paint the floor!

Elfman said that to Rodriguez back in the SPY KIDS days.

Wow, this thread is rampant with misinformation.

    1) Shirley Walker was not involved with PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE in any fashion.
    2) John Coleman conducted the re-recording for the PEE-WEE/BACK TO SCHOOL album in London, to save re-use fees because the original recording was done in L.A.
    3) Lennie Nieheus conducted the film recordings for PEE-WEE and he was by all accounts helpful and did add’tl orchestrations on the score.
    4) Bill Ross conducted BEETLEJUICE. In an interview Steve Bartek said that “the conductor at the beginning” of the project didn’t like Danny or Steve. Whether that conductor was replaced by Bill (now William) Ross or if he was the one with the problem is unknown.

Steven Scott Smalley also orchestrated parts of BATMAN. And there were three orchestrators on ROBINSONS, but you’d know that because you have the CD, right? ;)

If the rights revert back to Saul Zaentz none of the themes from the New Line films are likely to be carried over to THE HOBBIT.

I’m not talking about simply making the Spider-Man theme dark, I’m talking about a whole new motif to represent Peter’s dark side. The Spider-Man theme slowed down sounds kinda like someone’s finger is on the record player.

The Sandman sequence sounds like a mix of Goldenthal-like string apreggios and the Doc Ock theme played real slow by the brass. I actually hate the slow choral statement of the Spider-Man theme in the church sequence. Shouldn’t there be a “dark” Spider-Man motif that should be playing here? My guess is that Elfman would have come up with one.

Sam Raimi will hire Christopher Young if he hires anyone. It’s kinda ludicrous to say Hans Zimmer would score THE HOBBIT considering he has no relationship with the director.

This would be a wonderful project for Danny Elfman. The scoring process is so far away at this point that there is always the chance he will be involved, but it’s too early to tell.

I just got home from seeing the ES ballet and it was beautiful. Truly moving stuff. I’m no ballet/dance expert, but this show is brimming with visuals and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The new music isn’t entirely intrusive and in many ways makes very sly connections to Elfman’s original score. If you have the opportunity to see this in your city do not pass it up. You will not regret seeing it!

I did a quick search and it doesn’t appear as if there are any score-specific features on the DVD though there is a general behind-the-scenes type featurette that could feature a minute or two on the score.

DEEP SEA 3D came out on DVD last week and it features Elfman’s name on the cover art!

Actually the main theme is the one heard in “To The Future”. The theme that is close to CORPSE BRIDE is for the villain. Plus there’s a theme for the Robinsons themselves most prominently heard in the second half of “Time Machine Montage”. There’s more to the score then the 30 minutes on the album.
