ParticipantMy kids will want to see it.
I could, and have done, a lot worse.beth
ParticipantThanks for sharing those.
I don’t watch tv so I had never seen them before.
It’s nice to see them in context.beth

ParticipantThe Wallace and Grommit shorts *are* good and fun and interesting, as shorts, but at full length, they were no where near the caliber of Corpse Bride.
I stopped watching the oscars the year after Titanic swept.
beth
ParticipantI tried but didn’t get in.
I’m in San Diego and teach art to a class of 1st and 2nd graders every Tuesday.
Didn’t want to bail on them. It was their first class.
Didn’t get there early enough and wasn’t expecting much, but my son got to see them trough the glass and was thrilled. Plus I bought him that fancy corpse bride book they had.
If there ever is a next time with another project, I’ll ditch all my adult responsiblities and be there, early!beth

ParticipantHas anyone been able to get any more info on this?
I’m in the San Diego area and intend on making the drive, but I’m finding it difficult to get anymore information.
Anyone?beth
ParticipantIt’s Gus, it really is.
If you watch the farewell video, he calls him by name.beth
ParticipantI’m worried!
Where’s MINE!beth
ParticipantWhile you are certainly entitled to an opinion, my question is, why are you spending so much time spewing it here? If Danny Elfman is no longer a great artist in your book, why not move on and take up space somewhere else?
I think everyone “here” has gotten your point, but if someone is enjoying this score, you’re not going to change their mind about that.
It seems so sad and displaced.beth
Participantbeth
Participantyeah, you know, I kinda get a feeling for that.
Um…hello? Welcome aboard!
beth
Participantthat so-called “official” site is really on top of things, no?
beth
ParticipantWow!
I hope I get mine today.
Yes, definately need to frame it!beth
ParticipantI actually wasn’t expecting the jazzy aspect of this score. It was a pleasant surprise!
You want to talk “classic” Elfman, this is it, going way back to his first influences; being the big band stuff, Cab Calloway, etc and his Mystic Knights days, but combined with his over 20 years of film score experiences.
I’ve been an fan since Pee-Wee, since I was ten, and the reason I’ve stayed interested, been a fan for so long is because he changes and evolves every couple of scores. The changes aren’t always pleasing to me, but as he incorporates what he’s learned form the past scores and integrates his experiences in his current score, I think he gets it right far more often then he misses.
I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I’ve listened to Corpse Bride enough that my 6 year old son knows ‘Remains of the Day’ and is frightening his classmates with it.
I’m seriously enjoying this one!beth
ParticipantDawg man, where did you find the February date?
The redwood site says that the West Coast Premiere of Serenada Schizophrana
is this Sunday, the 2nd.beth
ParticipantI advance ordered the autographed one from Tower because it cost the same and the closet store that carries scores is a two hour trip away and that proved to be quite a bummer when Charlie came out, but anyhoo…
I got the CD and can expect a seperate CD booklet, autographed, I guess, in 8 to 12 weeks. I assume the booklet will contain the lyrics, but it seems weird that all the CD’s wouldn’t include one.
I’m sure the lyrics will surface eventually, though.-beth

Participantgo? don’t go?
that’s my quandry, as well.
Did Danny go to any of the Forbidden Zone screenings? My thoughts are that this whole thing is going to be… rabid, and he’d rather stay away.
I certainly don’t want to go watch oingo boingo perform without danny, but if by some slim chance he were to sing, the pain of having missed it would be too great!
But my gut tells me he has better things to do.
beth
Participantthat’s him, that’s Bonejangles!
beth
Participantyes, thank you very much!
beth
Participantcouldn’t have put it better, myself, TenderLumpling.
Four words… “Remains of the Day.” I’m so happy I could cry…. seriously!
beth
Participantyeah, I’d use the term “his people” very loosely!

ParticipantI don’t usually put myself on mailing lists, but I went to the Symphony’s site and signed right up. I’ll gladly sift through my po box and email in box for years if I have to. It’s been too long since my last visit to San Fran, anyway.

ParticipantI persoanlly don’t see a point in Boingo reuniting.
If he put that era of his career to bed, said “Farewell” and everything, why go back?
If only Boingo would get back together. If only he would compose something just like “Edward” again, if only…
He’s doing great work right now!
I’m a pretty content Elfman fan.-beth

ParticipantI don’t like to ask clerks, either, when I’m looking for a score.
They try to tell me I’m buying the wrong one. “No, you don’t want that one, it only has music on it, no songs,” when there’s double releases. We live in the mountains and my mister works in the city so I’m waiting for him to pick it up for me on his way home. I’m starting to sweat and pace.
beth
ParticipantOops, wait…
That song wasn’t done by the mystic knights, it was performed Boulevard Stompers, I believe.
But it was in the Forbidden Zone, so it is somewhat related to Elfman
and it is, still, a great song!beth
ParticipantThere’s the “Pico and Sepulveda” cover the Mystic Knights did.
That’s a great LA song!
It’s on the Forbidden Zone dvd…or you can hunt down the 1940’s original by Felix Figueroa & His Orchestra.
