I think it is a demo. The whole thing’s different. Anyway. I hope so. But Ryan posted that track before the E/B box was even announced. From one of his special vaults, no doubt.

Does anyone know if the Proposal/Rabbit Hole cue from Alice will be fixed for the Elfman Burton Box? Listening to it, I’m fairly certain that whole track is a demo put in by mistake. I think it was mentioned once in the FSM request thread, but I wonder if they noticed. Ryan, did they ask you for notes? What you thought needed releasing? I would have thought they would.

What is it with people wanting him to conduct left right and centre? He is a COMPOSER not a conductor. Some composers conducted their own music (like Bernard Herrmann) and some were pretty lousy conductors when it came to their own music (ahem, Stravinsky, or so people who ought to know say). Danny might well be a horrible conductor. He might be ok. But I cant fault him when he says he likes to hear the music from the speakers, because that’ll be how it’ll sound in the film.

    Is there a melody there?
Danny can do better than that.
I can appreciate fans might be worried that the film isn’t going to be respectful enough of the show they love, but do they want it to be exactly like the show? Couldnt they just watch IT instead? I really dont want Danny to have to start shoe-horning in themes from the original show to keep it’s fans happy. HE HAS HIS FANS TOO.

It’s worth seeing is it? Ok.
Can Hans just not be bothered to write music for the films he scores now? Or is there a good reason for that cue being used?

Wasn’t that interested in this. It seems interminably silly. I know that this guys score for The Social Network was popular, but I havent heard/seen it. No more interested in the film than I wasn’t before. Danny’s got enough cool stuff coming up.

So. The 15th is looming. I’ve seen people saying their cards have been charged. That wasn’t supposed to happen before the boxes shipped (I payed with PayPal so I don’t know). Any news?

P.S. Has anyone seen the competition page at wired.com? The number of people who’ve put “Ed Wood” as their answer! I could throttle them. Souldn’t they be discounted?

I forsee some major overlap here! May I say that the Main Title tracks are a given here.

    I’l have a go:

PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE – Clown Dream
    BEETLEJUICE – Incantation
BATMAN – Descent Into Mystery (that might be a classic, End Credits if so)
EDWARD SCISSORHANDS – The Cookie Factory
BATMAN RETURNS – Selina Transforms Part II
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS – This Is Halloween
    MARS ATTACKS! – First Sighting
    SLEEPY HOLLOW – End Credits
PLANET OF THE APES – The Hunt
    BIG FISH – Shoe Stealing
CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY – Augustus Gloop
CORPSE BRIDE – Into The Forest (as well)
ALICE IN WONDERLAND – Main Titles/Opening

That’s possible, but not good for me! Once the first 1000 are out, even if they then need to start making more, it shouldn’t take too long, everything will be tried and tested and problems from the first run should be sorted.

A delay until April would be announced everywhere. It’s a pretty long time, it’s as long as the original delay from December to February.

It still says February on the site, and surely that would have been updated. I’m wondering if the shipments will be staggered depending on when you bought it. FSM hear-say?

Can’t you cut some of the black off the bottom of it? With photoshop or suchlike.

What was wrong with the Wolfman score? I liked it!
Any opportunity taken…at least they didn’t use the phrase “creepy circus music”.

I know that he is aware of Tim’s work, having worked with Johnny a few times aswell. Talking about the difficulty faced when he tries to work with Depp due to his busy schedule, he remarked “he’s Burton’s bitch, not mine”. I’ve wondered myself why they haven’t worked together yet, but II think Gilliam is happy enough with his current musical collaborators, having worked with the Danna’s twice now, I believe. Their score for The Imaginaruim was ok, though I must say I preferred the trailer music. Michael Kamen’s score for Brazil is something of a classic, isn’t it? Guillermo Del Toro liked it anyway.

    ANYWAY. Won’t rule it out.

Does anyone know if customs/vat charges etc. will be charged for UK/Europe buyers? If so, how much? Is there a way to calculate it?

It’s not listed on imdb, and I checked the end credits myself to see if it was credited and it’s not. I dont think it’s original, it might well be some obscure library music, or something Paul Reubens had. The record in the film says Decca on it, but it needn’t be the actual record playing. So sorry, don’t know.

(And a needle-drop is when songs from a record are digitised using special software, sorry, OCD).

I assumed it would come with the box-set for those who bought the numbered-edition.
I’m sure someone will let us know whats on it when they get it.
Would it be sinical of me to imagine that WB records merely threw something together out of rejected-cues from the box-set? I cant see it being elfman’s lost ed-wood demos or something.

Here’s the paragraph with the Elfman mention:

Hong Kong Disneyland is expanding and they will be adding a Toy Story Playland, Grizzly Gulch, and Mystic Manor. Speaking of cultural differences, many Chinese believe that ghosts are the spirits of their ancestors and nothing to fear. Therefore, Disney decided to make the mansion all about the supernatural. You are invited to an open house at an eccentric millionaire’s house, a crazy monkey takes over, and everything goes wrong. Danny Elfman is composing the theme music. Both Bruce and Craig felt that Hong Kong might be getting the best Haunted Mansion anywhere.

This kind of music doesn’t usually get released does it?
