The sample for the Main Titles is definitely the album version, not the film version, isn’t it? Hope it’s just a mix up with the samples.

I would too. I definitely appreciate this site. It’s great to have all the Elfman news in one place.

I love this, don’t suppose you could share some sheet music? Just for myself, of course.

I doubt it, sounds like your common or garden Edward Scissorhands rip-off. An actual Elfman trailer score would probably be more in-your-face than this. You don’t hire him and cover his music in sound effects…oh wait.

I love that he doesn’t want someone else to do MIIIB. I love that attitude. “My trilogy, mine”.
This looks like it’s going to be an amazing next few years. These aren’t small scale films. And singing in Frankenweenie and Oz sounds good.

New story. What’s the form with shows like this? I know there are a few score recordings from other Cirque stuff. A big composer like Danny would surely deserve a recording. Then, why hasnt Rabbit and Rogue been released? Or Joby Talbot’s Alice Ballet. Do these people not WANT to make money?

Is that why he’s not a good composer?
I don’t claim to be fan to any extent, and so my knowledge is limited but has he done a succesful score by himself ever? I mean, the only two scores of his that I know to have been popular, are Gladiator (on which he was helped by Klaus Badelt and Lisa Gerrard) and Pirates, for wich Badelt is credited first, and Zimmer with his 15 extra composers. I mean what? Does this guy have any artistic integrity? At least Danny writes the scores he writes.

Um, is it me, or are the “re-recorded” and “film” versions of the Dinosaur Dream from Pee-Wee exactly the same?

I REALLY hope he doesn’t. Has he THAT much coming up? Real Steel I thought was nearly done, Frankenweenie and Dark Shadows is all we know of, what’s the problem? Frankenweenie and DS have only really started production. MIB should be done long before them. Danny can always score it before the CG is done cant he?

I’m quite looking forward to this. Van Sant and Elfman make a good combo, and Danny’s done a run of great scores recently.

I’m thinking the only possible route is for (whoever it is) to orchestrate the original spider-man theme (the “spider-man, spider-man, does whatever a spider can”) into a sort of jazzy heroic fanfare, the film is called “The Amazing Spider-Man” after all. I don’t know who’ll they’ll get. Giacchino maybe because of The Incredibles. Mychael Danna did 500 days of summer”, maybe him. The only knowledge I have of him is with his brother in Parnassus, and it was a truly underwhelming score for such an amazing film, I don’t think it matched up.

I never really expected them to, and I don’t think Danny would do it anyway. I don’t have tremedously high hopes for this film, and I worry that a poor score is going to make it even worse for me. Time will tell.

Well, from what pitures i’ve seen so far, i’m not overwhelmed. Currently, the vibe i’m getting is of a high school comedy in which the guy happens to be spiderman. I can’t tell yet if the films needs a traditional superhero score (the kind Elfman can do better than nearly everybody) or something more subtle.

P.S I believe “Elfman1972” means that Spiderman without Elfman’s theme would feel as wrong as JAWS without William’s music. And elfboy, I don’t think comparing Spiderman’s theme to JAWS (in terms of memorability) is really fair. Spiderman works in different, often brilliant ways, just because it’s not simple enough for the man off the street to be able to hum, it’s not a half bad theme.

There are a few bookswith all the songs from the film in it. They would be a good starting point for you to divide up the parts for your band, or add in your own parts. There is a piano vocal, a piano guitar and vocal, and an easy piano vocal version. Amazon.com search:

Yes. Quite annoyed about that. Still ALOT of unreleased score. Hoping for a LLL or such like release some day.

It’s a real CD. I haven’t heard anything about CD-R’s. Unless you buy from an amazon-seller who is selling copies, or an on-demand OOP CD (which Amazon is always careful to make clear) than I can’t imagine why it would be a CD-R.

I paid with PayPal. I wonder if that changed things? Otherwise, I can’t think why mine has been sent out already. I’m kinda wondering if it was a rather poorly aimed April-fools. But I cant imagine that being even possible.

So did I, which is funny. I bought the standard edition, and I got a shipping notice for the same date too. I thought they were making the “limited” a priority. Has anyone else got a shipping email? Only one guy on the facebook page has said so.

Maybe Richard Kraft will cojole Danny into touring the Universe with a concert next. Maybe that’s his master plan.

Well maybe, but he did post that clip in April 2010. Which was well before the Oscar season started. I don ‘t know where he got it. It doesn’t really matter.
