Have you noticed that at the end of the video, it says “first batch” or something like that? I’m sure that they won’t limit themselves to 1.000 copies if it sells well; it’s all about marketing…

By the way, for non US-buyers, get ready for customs extra-charges. In addition to the already expensive postal fees, it will most certainly end up costing $600…That’s insane.

Yeah $250 was a instant-purchase but 500…unless I find a wallet filled with money in the streets, I’ll have to pass. I mean, there are more important things in life, like…I don’t know…food, clothes…

Anyone else feeling frustrated with the “Joker Flies To Gotham/Batwing I” cue ?
The album edit makes it sound like an amazon clip and those 30 seconds are so good that I can’t help to feel angry when they end that way. I understand that they came up with what was possible but such an edition shouldn’t leave you with that kind of taste in your mouth…

Let’s face it, it’s one particular interest we all have (film music and/or Danny Elfman).
Most people listen to music to have noise going on in the back, to break the silence, to dance, to “think of something else” or relax. They express themselves using music, not through music.
Of course, people expressing themselves through music do exist (and beside, teenagers and musicians as well :-) !) but they are few, considering the “other kind” I evoked above. In addition, I’m sure the percentage of that people listening and connecting to film music is rather weak. I mean, this board is dedicated to one of major film music composer in the world, a name that a lot of persons who are interested in cinema know; Danny Elfman is to be considered a superstar in his field. Yet, how many members are really active here ? A dozen, maybe slightly more. That’s not much at all.

I gave up a while ago, I had to admit that most people are not interested in a music that they barely notice the existence. Old habits die hard and although most of my friends and family is now aware of Danny Elfman or film music in general, I know it will never go further than that. No “conversion” planned or possible I’m afraid.

I always think of a Danny’s quote from a video I can’t seem to find. It was something like this (and I’m sure it’s pretty accurate, it use to open my Danny Elfman tapes back in those silly pre-mp3 years) :
“Hi, I’m Danny Elfman and I’m talking to all you film nerds…I assume that’s what you are if you’re listening to this…and I’m not saying that the bad way because that’s who I was and probably still I am”.

Because he’s German. And you never know…
Ok ok, bad one ! :-)

As far as I’m concerned, the only thing that I found more dull than Zimmer’s work on the Batman’s movie was JNH’s work. I can’t imagine music more generic than that.
Nevertheless,I highly respect JNH’s music most of the time, although I fail to connect to it, emotionally speaking. But that’s personal I guess.
His score for KK was one of the best “replacement score” in recent years…

Beside, his latest “action” scores (T4 and The Wolfman) were rather uninteresting. Solid within the films but quickly boring on their own. Meanwhile, SOP and Milk never left my mp3 player…

Weird…because Van Sant and Haggis’ projects were announced after Elfman had been involved in the Gondry project, am I wrong ?
It’s sad he won’t be working with Gondry but the trailer looks so generic that I’m actually glad he’s off. Michel, were are you ?

Cool, I always thought he would be a great guest for an European Film Festival jury. Burton’s presidency was much acclaimed at Cannes…

I just hope they would propose the film main titles as a bonus and not as the first track. I’m one of the few who largely prefer the album’s snare drums march…

I’m excited too, especially since that Green Hornet trailer came out and turned out to be a disappointment (Michel where are you ?? I hope the trailer is misleading us big time !).
Great to hear that Elfman is back in the drama genre. And we have Restless coming on too.

And anyone who hears “unmelodic boring music” in Milk is just deaf.

There is a 2-disc DVD edition of Charlie ? Does it exist in Blu-ray ?
As for Alice, I’m not sure to follow you FranV. Does it mean that only the US Blu-Ray disc will contain the music featurette or Blu-ray discs in general (US & International) ?

    Hey,

I bought the French magazine Mad Movies (dedicated to horror/fantasy films) which has a special Tim Burton issue this month.
In the Danny Elfman article, the journalist mentions that Elfman had to adapt his Alice’s musical vision because Burton and/or the studio weren’t convinced by his “baroque” take on the film.
Can anyone confirm this (by a source link) ?

The magazine’s information are most of the time right but I’m curious about that one as I never heard anything like that. They also mention Burton’s desire to give Edward Scissorhands’ part to Michael Jackson and its score to…The Cure.
