ParticipantFor a proper listen, I’ll just wait for the CD. I can’t wait to hear it, though.

ParticipantIt’s sad. Spider-Man 2 and Return of the King was the beginning of the end for Raimi and Jackson…
TenderLumpling
ParticipantHere’s hoping for a rejected score!
*Fingers crossed*
TenderLumpling
ParticipantThe question is: Elfman or Shore?
Shore.

ParticipantI thought online petitions didn’t work?
TenderLumpling
ParticipantWow! So a lot more original score than we thought.

ParticipantIndiana Jones is going to swing in and kick everybody’s ass
Absolutely! I hope I’m not jinxing anything, but, unbelievably, this will be the first Indiana Jones movie since Raiders that will be the number one movie of the year.

ParticipantVariations on ‘Schizophrana?’ Bring it on!
TenderLumpling
ParticipantWhat were they thinking? That approach is way too over-the-top!
TenderLumpling
ParticipantThe music that they play when you pause the video sounds similar to the classic Batman/Elfman sound. I wonder if that’s the score from the film?
TenderLumpling
ParticipantIn fact, I can’t think of a genre where he “struggles”. It would have to be if he’s asked to be very “mainstream” or to copy a temp track.
Bingo.
Proof of Life for example. I haven’t seen the movie IN YEARS but I recall the score was kinda lame. The Kingdom is also an action movie. And that score wasn’t so great either.
I suppose Proof of Life and The Kingdom are the only Elfman scores that are realistic action movies (is Mission Impossible another?), and if that’s the case (do to the similarity of the two scores) it seems you just don’t like Elfman’s approach in which he scored them. But they’re both completely competent. There’s nothing in either of those scores that suggests Elfman had trouble adequately finding the tone or anything like that.
TenderLumpling
ParticipantI said when it comes to “action” scores (meaning scores to movies within the action genre) he tends to struggle a bit more…
What movies would those be?
TenderLumpling
ParticipantElfman says he had asked to collaborate with Manson in the past and the studios had declined… Do you have any idea what project he’s talking about ?
Well, if you do the math, it was a movie in ’01. Planet of the Apes would be the obvious guess.
TenderLumpling
ParticipantBut he tends to struggle with more grounded movies.
Like what? A Simple Plan? Red Dragon? A Civil Action? Good Will Hunting? Sommersby?
TenderLumpling
ParticipantIt’s funny, the parts I like best about The Kingdom, are the parts that remind me of Dead Presidents.
TenderLumpling
ParticipantIt’s been a long time since Munich!
Boy, I hope he isn’t rusty.
TenderLumpling
ParticipantI’m a firm believer that Elfman gave Kingdom the score it needed. Whether or not it has the same replay value as, say, Corpse Bride, is open for debate, but still, a job well done, nonetheless.
In the top 10 Elfman list, for sure.
What is your top 10 Elfman list, Thor?
TenderLumpling
ParticipantHot damn! Sounds as promising as Serenada Schizophrana.
TenderLumpling
ParticipantThree scores to anticipate, to be sure!
For Indy 4, it will be really interesting to see if Williams can disprove the idea that he can’t recapture a musical style that he hasn’t done in years.

ParticipantAgain, an animator is an artist who animates, i.e., the appearance of movement using animation.
Story boarding is NOT the same as animating a character. Characters in storyboards to not move when you flip them.

ParticipantSome of the score that they used for the video is from the episode, It’s Never Too Late, which is just breathtaking.
I had no idea Bruce Timm was directing this. Very promising, indeed.
I’m not particularly into anime, but to say that it all looks the same is a complete fallacy.
TenderLumpling
ParticipantDoing storyboards does not necessitate drawing thousands of animations for a cartoon.
If that were so, I could add “animator” to my business card.
TenderLumpling
ParticipantPrecisely.
An animator is one who animates.
