ParticipantI can understand how that can be disappointing. I was thanked myself, but sadly cannot afford the box at $700. I don’t know how they weighted the input & assistance.
Thor
ParticipantCute girl, and as others have pointed out elsewhere- if she came with the package, even I might have been able to find $500+shipping+customs somewhere.

ParticipantDoubt that. Sounded too “simple”.
Thor
ParticipantReznor is a cool choice. I loved THE SOCIAL NETWORK, and would love to see him do more film music.
I’m not too worried about Danny. He has enough interesting projects to dive into at this point.
Thor
ParticipantCool! It sounds lovely. Got that whole minimalist vibe going on that he’s fallen in love with since 2005 and Seranada Schizophrana.
Thor
ParticipantCool! Yeah, that’ll work. Thanks!
Thor
ParticipantUnfortunately not, as you then would have to lay the picture down on the side!
The pic was supposed to go into the top story at this site: http://www.montages.no in my ‘composer of the month’ series.

ParticipantToo bad. That was the only one I really missed, in addition to Daft Punk’s TRON.
Thor
ParticipantI tried, but the picture is not wide enough to sustain 720×310. What you’re left with is basically just his eyes and maybe nose if you’rel lucky!
Thor
ParticipantAwesome, thanks.
Problem is only that I need to convert it to 720×310, and that’s a format that doesn’t seem to go with that pic. It’s too long. I need one that is more wide. Hmmm…..
Thor
ParticipantI think that”s one of his greatest strengths – that he’s so conscious about all aspects of the filmmaking, including music. He wants his vision to come through. All his scores have been excellent, so I’m sure Elfman would fare the same way. To my knowledge, Gilliam isn’t THAT difficult to work with compared to the greatest auteurs in film history.
Thor
ParticipantGood question. I think they would have been a fine match.
Thor
ParticipantI think this sticky – as well as a few others – can be ‘unstickied’ now. They’re pretty old news!
Thor
ParticipantI’ve just thought of it this way – $550 (incl. shipping) is about the same price as I will pay for a 3-day safari in the Serengeti, Tanzania in a few weeks….I don’t regret the prioritization one bit.
I may when I get home, though.
Thor
ParticipantNice compilation, but seems to be culled from the previous discs in the set….a “best of” disc, if you wish.
Oh, how I yearn for this set….especially for the bonus disc, DVD and book (the expanded versions I can live without).
Thor
ParticipantI don’t know about that, but Elfman seems to have a connection to the Condo crowd (which was also involved in PROUD IZA), since he also did 5 original tracks for the 2000 documentary CONDO PAINTING….I’ve not been able to hear these or find the film, though. Only the trailer:
http://www.videodetective.com/movie_trailer/CONDO_PAINTING/trailer/P00161205.htm
Elfman’s tracks are not on the soundtrack.
Thor
ParticipantThanks for that, moongirl! Great find! I’ve shared your link other places (with appropriate credit, of course).

ParticipantWow, Elfman is really composing music for every conceivable arena!
Thor
ParticipantI don’t think it’s Elfman,no, but I have no idea who it is, I’m afraid.
Thor
ParticipantHis argument for why he won’t is basically that he prefers to sit in the booth, since the sound through the speakers is more like the sound that ends up in the movie, and that the sound in the hall itself can easily “fool” you into thinking the sound is better than it is. Or something.
Thor
ParticipantYeah, it would have been fun. To my knowledge, Danny’s only conducting credit is DEAD PRESIDENTS, and even that is a debated point in certain circles (then again, that score was mostly rock-driven in the first place with some orchestral backing).
Thor
ParticipantThat was an error on behalf of the guys who made the album cover (which they have since corrected).
Elfman did NOT conduct this. Rick Wentworth did.

ParticipantThat’s a good point, DIM. It might have sustained its running time better if it had been arranged better.

ParticipantWell, you know what they say…more isn’t always better!
I think this score would work wonderfully in a 40-50 minute presentation.
