It sounds like crap without the synths. Kinda lame Marco Beltrami sounding.

I’ve got a m-audio Radium 61 and it pretty much sucks. It’s kind of like a toy and I spilled coke in the keys on one side and it has ants in it now. Soon i’ll be getting a cme uf7 which is 76 semi weighted keys but they also have an 88 hammer action version. http://www.8thstreet.com/prod.asp?pid=27465 $599 for 88 key midi controller, you can’t really get cheaper than that.

Hey Ryan I was wondering- do you have any Elfman sheet music? I don’t mean piano versions or arrangements by Hal Leonard but the real sheet music? Just curious.

I saw some Imax movie about space and it also had score by Don Davis although it was just taken from the Matrix trilogy. :)

While it’s awesome Venom will be in it I wish Carnage was in there too. Not to mention the other symbiotes.

I wish they’d do a Sleepy Hollow one for full orchestra. :(

Yeah I really didn’t like War of the Worlds at all but ROTS probably had the best score of 2005.

The greatest finale of all is the Grand Finale from Scissorhands.

The lion king has a very interesting video with Zimmer on it. It shows him playing an all strings patch on his keyboard. Interesting to hear him play it and then listen to the finished score with real orchestra.

I remember Chris Tilton from another forum. He used to post music or at least once he did that he did with samples. I think he got banned or maybe just stopped visiting there. My friend was supposedly a roommate with a guy who was friends with Ottman. Maybe if I lived in L.A. i’d try to see if I could get into an Ottman recording session but it would still be a long shot.

Really think you gotta have connections for that. Closest I ever came was watching Horner record at Todd AO on a webcam for Troy. I sat there for a couple days just watching him all day.

Crap coming out of Williams in 2 days is often better than most scores by others.

Yeah i’m more into a warm string sound. My VSL violins are kinda sterile and cold.

I know he used SOV boys choir for Good Will Hunting… we were talking about the choirs in Spiderman and Corpse Bride.

Aaahhhhhhhhhh don’t forget about Sonic Implants orchestra. Best commercially available strings are in there. At the price that VSL symphonic cube is at it would make more sense to me to get some people together and spend that cash on recording a custom sample library.

Sigh. We are talking about the nominations and Narnia is nominated so I am just saying it is a good score. I haven’t heard Shores Kong score but I am happy he got replaced because I happen to not like him even though he’s Canadian.

I am an aspiring film composer. I know the chances of success are in line with winning a lottery, it’s all about who you know. I may end up broke and on the street but at least I can say i tried before I pull the trigger and blow my head open with a sawed off shotgun in a dreary alley.
