Hmm, that’s weird. IMDB has Elfman on for Spidey 3 on both Elfman’s page and Spider-Man 3’s page.
Besides, there’s absolutely no way Spider-Man 3 can go without Elfman. It can’t happen. Hehe, Ryan’s just pulling our leg, right?
…
Right?
D-BoParticipant*sigh*
….
*sigh* It sounds so incredible, I wanted to be there so badly. There’s gotta be an official recording coming out, there just has to. There’s no way I can stand not hearing this.Batman, any chance of sending me a copy of that bootleg?
In the meantime, how about small clips of some great moments?
D-BoParticipantHehe, no. Unfortunately, nothing is mentioned of Danny Elfman’s music for Spider-Man, but a concert piece inspired by ol’ Spidey would be kinda neat, though.
Speaking of which, I’ve nearly finished about the first three-odd minutes of my “Suite from Spider-Man 2” (includes “He’s Back” and “Main Titles”). Tough stuff, but fun.
D-BoParticipantI’m sorry, Nin. Here, you deserve something special…*ahem*
Thy most honorable Nin of Cherries, I express the sincerest gratitude for extending a most helpful hand towards ye in need. I bow before thy greatness.
D-BoParticipantYes, that is what I am referring to.
D-BoParticipantHmm, I’m not totally sure how that may work. If we’re on the same page, as it were, it shouldn’t be a gliss, but rather one recurring note. I do think lower strings might make a good choice for that, but the problem lies in when the cellos (and along with possibly the basses or violas) come in later “for real”. Please clarify your suggestion, Kane0rz.
Some things I thought of was to use a timpani(s), but muting it somehow to cut down on the resonance, making the sound shorter. Another, and I think a rather “cool” effect, would be to use a prepared piano. Anyone’s opinion on these, or other suggestions?
D-BoParticipantNo, Danny Elfman is composing new songs.
D-BoParticipantoh
my
god
I want the last three minutes of my life back.
D-BoParticipantThank you for your comments, and the suggestions. You know, after a couple people here saying something about it being a “best moments” arrangement, I’m actually not sure that’s really what it is. I guess the reason I have the “Appreciation” and “Armageddon” is because I wanted to show people another side of Spider-Man. I don’t know this for a fact, but for some reason I have this assumption that the average casual audience for an orchestral performance may think of movie scores like Spider-Man 2 to be mostly “actiony” (if there is such a word). So another objective of mine here is not to impress the audience solely with loud and exciting, but make them feel the sad moments in the score, also. Does that make sense?
I don’t think I’ll add any more to it, because I think it’s fairly long already, but I really do appreciate your suggestions.
D-BoParticipantNow posted at a better quality. See first post and “For faster connections”.
By the way, anyone have any idea how I might replicate/subsitute the synth at the beginning (starting at about 0:18)?
D-BoParticipantThank you, I appreciate your comment. Again it is a rough mix, and there is no way to have each section transition exactly the way I want to until it’s actually written out. I can’t really help that in the mix, but I know what you mean, and they will (hopefully) be better.
I should mention that Spider-Man 2 is my favorite Elfman score of all time (so far ) and each of those sections are my favorite, and, I feel, most important, moments in the score (that are actually possible to perform live). The last thing I want to do is to butcher it with a bad arrangement. I’ve heard many arrangements of movie music for orchestras and I can tell you that many of them are simply not very good. I want to make quality arrangements so as not to totally offend a listener who is very familiar with the score.
Again, I do want comments and do appreciate them, but this is most likely the version that I will stick with.
D-BoParticipantIt’s still Danny Elfman’s music, from the first Spider-Man. It was probably the worst cut-‘n-paste job that I noticed out of the whole movie.
D-BoParticipantWow. That was kinda weird.
D-BoParticipantHeehee, my school! Every student has access to a free 200 megabytes. It’s awesome.
D-BoParticipantYah! Go ahead and send it to me and I’ll put it somewhere for everyone to enjoy.
D-BoParticipant*raises eybrow, strokes chin* Hmm, interesting…
Spider-Man 1 & 2 being my fave Elfman scores, I’d always thrown around ideas of my own for his themes for those movies. Maybe…
D-BoParticipantI’m not sure if one exists right now. I’ve actually been working on transcribing it myself off and on, but it’s nowhere near complete.
D-BoParticipantAAWWWESOOOMME!!!
D-BoParticipantYes.
We must flush two johns today.
D-BoParticipantOh, I love those Wallace & Gromit shows. I think I have three of them on tape. ‘The Wrong Trousers’ is my favorite .
Oh, yeah, I’m American by the way, too.D-BoParticipantHehe.
I have a Compaq (which is also HP nowadays) laptop, and it was so bogged down with crap, that I decided to wipe the whole thing and reinstall Windows, with SP2 this time. It works great.
But don’t worry, Ryan, I realize you’re definitely not alone.
D-BoParticipantYes.
D-BoParticipantOK, here’s some definite ones:
Almost anything from “The Frighteners”
Probably stuff from “Beetlejuice,” but I myself haven’t heard anything except the Main Titles and End Titles
“Nightbreed” End Titles
“Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Jar”
“Tales from the Crypt”
“Scrooged” Elliot Gives Blood, Walter Ablaze, Asylum
“To Die For” Main Titles
“Dead Presidents” Main Titles, Nam
“Shrunken Heads” Main Titles
“The Nightmare Before Christmas” This Is Halloween
“Psycho” Psycho ThemeAnd some maybe’s:
“Army of Darkness” March of the Dead
“Edward Scissorhands” Castle on the Hill
Some stuff from “Red Dragon” and “Sleepy Hollow” that I haven’t figured out yet.
“Spider-Man 2” Angry Arms/RebuildingD-BoParticipantI share your feelings on that cue, as well. I can’t be totally sure, but I think it was supposed to go with the “attacking arms” hospital scene.
D-BoParticipantNice! I’m hearing some Don Davis in there, too.
