ParticipantCool! Hans who? Hahahaha…

ParticipantHere’s Danny at the MoMa Opening. They ask about Spider-Man 4, but do you think that he is kinda talking about The Wolfman?

ParticipantAlexandre Desplat’s wonderful score for FANTASTIC MR. FOX. I’m loving it. Totally original. But where is Mr. Mothersbaugh?
Monsterhead
ParticipantYou’re right.. Besides – I think we’re all ready for Volumes 3 & 4, to say the least.
Monsterhead
ParticipantWell, I’d love to hear me some more “Nacho Libre” music… All in all, great news.
Monsterhead
ParticipantIt’s kind of old news, but I just read that Gene Simmons is providing the howls and voice design for The Wolf Man. Good casting!

ParticipantHas anyone listened to the four tracks that were on the song soundtrack for TW? They’re growing on me. I like them more than the “9” soundtrack. Any other thoughts?
Monsterhead
ParticipantJohnny Depp looks like Elijah Wood here…weird…
Monsterhead
ParticipantYes it was. After the recording session for The Exorcist, William Friedkin took the music reels and threw them outside.
Indeed Drag Me to Hell was an excellent score for Young, one of the best that I’ve heard from him. I’m glad that Danny didn’t do it, actually. It felt like “been there, done that” to me. I’d rather take Milk or Standard Operating Procedure over the likes of this, or hell, Terminator Salvation.

ParticipantI’ll bet that no one was more surprised than Christopher. Seriously, that heartfelt ‘thank you’ followed by someone else’s music…?
Monsterhead
ParticipantI’ve searched hi and low but to no prevail. I did find a recording of “Hombre Religioso” with he new choir arrangements that Elfman did though – it’s quite beautiful. I would love to get this entire score… Hello…. La La Land Records?!?!
Monsterhead
ParticipantWell SOMEONE here has known the story for years, but I seem to recall that named person stayed tight lipped about it. Perhaps the statue of limitations has expired and we can get a confirmation of the story and maybe some other side notes….?
Monsterhead
ParticipantI just got mine today. Nice to read the story (or at least some version of the story) about Burton replacing Howard Shore with Danny again. All in all, the bonus tracks offer a nice idea of the final music used in the film. My favorite is the Trailer music. Although not complete, this was a welcome re-issue. I hope La-La Land Records plans to revisit future Elfman score releases, and maybe even some that we never released…
Monsterhead
ParticipantInfo about the soundtrack was just posted here:

Sadly, there are no Elfman tracks – all pop music. But the reviewer states that it’s Elfman’s music that is “front and center” over the Woodstock music. Strange. Maybe we’ll get a score release after all?
Monsterhead
ParticipantIt’s a great score (I’ve listened to it all the way through now). But where is Fiedel’s T2 theme???
Monsterhead
ParticipantMaybe he’s just providing the themes….ha!
Monsterhead
ParticipantI too could never find BLACK BEAUTY, that is until I checked it out from my local library…!
Seriously, look into that as a possibility. I found that and “scores” of other scores there. And it was free!
Monsterhead
ParticipantGreat news! Now all we need is that full “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” soundtrack release…
Monsterhead
ParticipantThere is a great German TV documentary about Rota on the Criterion 8 1/2 DVD. It’s marvelous…
Monsterhead
ParticipantWell, I’ll believe it when I hear it. And hasn’t Danny lived down the “Oingo Boing” parenthesis in his name by now? Sheesh…
Monsterhead
ParticipantI quite liked his music for SLiTHER. Do tell more about the 300 controversy….
Monsterhead
ParticipantHence the Vangellis BLADERUNNER-inspired sounds I guess…
Monsterhead
ParticipantBloody Hell!!!!! That’s practically the BATMAN theme right there…. I like the progression leading up to the horns. Great stuff.
Monsterhead
ParticipantYeah, Newman not Arnold. Duh. I think “Stand Off/Spirit Just Keeps Coming” is a fine music series of cues beginning at about the one minute mark. Agreed, that given enough time, THE SPIRIT theme could have been quite good. I’m still searching for a theme in WATCHMEN however…
Monsterhead
ParticipantActually, I’m not sure what I was thinking…. The string progression in THE SPIRIT is akin to SPIDER-MAN. Not BATMAN. I love that Morricone-type harmonica theme too….
