ParticipantWell, then I guess you could try Haslinger.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantBut now there’s more of a chance for an Elfman soundtrack release. Right?
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantI would communicate some of my ideas, and of course listen to his, to get a good grasp on where we’re coming from. It would be cool to get occasional updates. I sure as hell wouldn’t TEMP the god damned thing.
You can’t go wrong with an Elfman score, so I most likely wouldn’t be sweating over it. The guy knows what he’s doing.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantI enjoy Charlie more than Corpse Bride (with the exception of Remains of the Day, the songs just sound forced and a bit soulless). And yes, the Charlie *score* is great!
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantHELL YES!! Made my day.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantAnd glad he did. It sounds very cool. Nice and dark with a great melody-line. My favorite kind of Elfman. I hope we get to hear it all one day. “What is that?” “Batman.” LOL!
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantDOH! Wow, I really should read all the posts, huh? Well, I’m pretty happy it’s not from the real score. It sounds too bombastic … like something from a superhero movie!
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantNo kidding. Hahah!
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantThat’s a mock-up track. Definitely not a real orchestra. Still, it sounds more like Spiderman than I imagined. Weird.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantFFS!!
Mr. Dantz
Participant“Nahs work, Mr. Elfman … But, what this here film needs is a Need F’r Speed sayoundtrack … and an endin’ with a Biiiiig Esplosion!”

ParticipantYeah. Thanx, dude.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantElfman hums a monophonic version of the entire score then someone else comes in to do the rest. Yeah, seems entirely plausible and makes perfect sense. Idiots.
October 8, 2009 at 8:11 pm in reply to: Do You Think Danny Elfman Has Passed His “Prime”, Or That He Has Yet To Even Reach It? #64673Mr. Dantz
ParticipantI believe he has, just because my favorites are from the 85-94 era (excluding Sleepy Hollow). I dig everything he’s done, though.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantIt didn’t. The Beatles influenced everybody!
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantDid anyone else LOL at the new wolf man character design? Looks like something you’d see on a made-for-TV movie! Nevertheless, looking forward to this score.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantYeah, but the main theme rocks!
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantBeing a big fan of both Elfman and Beck, it would be interesting to hear the rejected Beck score. I wonder why most of it was rejected?
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantI play and sing “Fill the Void” with an acoustic all the time. Fun song.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantWell, with big movies like this, I wonder how much artistic freedom the director even has in the first place. Still haven’t seen Wanted. Good to hear the score’s used well in the film, as the score is pretty damn cool.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantBump.

BTW, I like the board layout. It’s unique to all the others I visit. Maybe I’m just used to it … Man, how long have I frequented this board, anyway? Just realized it’s been a looooong time.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantNot sure why he still does action movies. He’s always complaining about how his music is always sacrificed for loud sound effects. Haven’t heard the score yet (not thrilled about the movie), but I still WAY prefer his “quieter” scores over his bombastic ones.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantI agree. Lists are kind of silly in the first place.
Mr. Dantz
ParticipantHappy Birthday, dawg!

Mr. Dantz
ParticipantChristian Bale was best as Bateman (no not Batman) in American Psycho, probably because it was a character he could most relate to.
