KeymasterNo interest in seeing this. Time to mine a different character, this one is stripped bare.

KeymasterI doubt he will bail like THE VISITING, because I don’t believe we saw any studio material that had Elfman tied to THE VISITING, therefore it couldn’t be confirmed that he was even signed.

KeymasterI see that Tim has hired Darius Wolski, who shot the PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN MOVIES, nice move and Dante Ferretti as production designer, who has worked extensively with Martin Scorsese. It’s an almost fresh Burton team!

KeymasterJust read that the MEET THE ROBINSONS soundtrack album (tentatively set for 3/27) will also feature a performance of “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” the main theme from Carousel of Progress, performed by They Might Be Giants.

KeymasterIt makes sense to release this in late Summer anyways. It struck me as an odd choice for a Winter release.

KeymasterLet’s keep it on topic, please. This has nothing to do with John Williams.

KeymasterMy least favourite Elfman score. Well, it’s really the only one I don’t like. Sorry!

KeymasterYeah it’s extremely difficult to find that address as the page that contains it is only linked from every page on this site…!

KeymasterThe entire score doesn’t really remind me of Elfman, but “The River” is a helluva lot like DOLORES CLAIBORNE.

KeymasterThey are both working on the music for SPIDER-MAN 3. Elfman’s new and old themes, Young adapting them and writing the rest of the score.

KeymasterIt is Philip Glass. I can’t confirm it because I don’t have the CD at hand, but it is possiblly POWAQQATSI.

KeymasterThere are probably a dozen re-recordings of the piece, from Herrmann himself to Erich Kunzel to Silva Screen. I’m sorry but I really don’t know what recording it is.

KeymasterI just don’t want some Elfman fan to feel like someone they admire wasn’t admired by the most admired film composer of all time. Does that make sense? There’s no reason to open and feed threads on this msg board with potentially negative subjects. Let’s keep it strictly to worship, folks!

KeymasterI don’t get it. Do you like Elfman? Then where does Goldsmith factor into things? Judging by the upcoming book by Jerry’s daughter, Goldsmith didn’t like a whole helluva lot of anything.

KeymasterWith all due respect to Mr. Goldsmith, does it even matter?

KeymasterWell there’s the expense, locating talent, recording the songs, having them approved by the filmmakers, etc. I think the initial post figured that the songs – due to those difficulties – would be subtitled in the local language. That may very well be the case for smaller territories.

KeymasterI can now confirm: Elfman is writing new themes for SPIDER-MAN 3 and Chris Young will integrate the major themes from the first two pictures into his own score.
