ParticipantHe sounds like a bit of an arrogant douchebag there, doesn’t he?

ParticipantCare to elaborate? If this is true, I’m disappointed.

ParticipantReshoots on a $200 million-plus action movie are common — the studio wants the most bang from its buck. Spider-Man 3 also still on track for the release date set two years ago. The Visiting was supposed to be released this year, and now it’s going to be released at the end of next year. Not a gret sign. I really do hope that by then, they’ll have a good movie on their hands, because it certainly sounds interesting.

ParticipantSo far as I can tell, Danny’s still aboard. IMDb is the only site that says it’s Ottman, and it’s based on submissions, so it’s probably not accurate. As for the release date, I’ve heard that the director had to do extensive reshoots and re-edits, meaning he did a bad job putting the whole thing together from the start. Nonetheless, I’d like to hear what Danny would come up with for it, granted he’s still writing the score.

ParticipantHa! That’s one of the few instances that a homemade YouTube video has cracked me up. Yeah, theramins are totally sick.

ParticipantWhy don’t they commission 50 Cent to cover Sinatra? No difference there. “The Nightmare Before Christmas” was a very sweet tale in a dark setting. Just because the word “dark” is in there doesn’t mean that the door can be opened to goth-emo bands who claim the movie speaks of their souls and probably don’t even know who Danny Elfman is. This is worse than the DJ remixes for “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

ParticipantI think I just threw up a little.

ParticipantOld news indeed, but thanks for the reminder!

ParticipantIt definitely has that “Corpse Bride” sound. I really wish I could afford to own that DVD in addition to the CD…

ParticipantI was at Sea World and the Beetlejuice Main Titles plays outside the Atlantis roller coaster. Do they play Spider-Man outside the Spider-Man ride? If so, then it’s time to put the Hulk music with the Hulk ride (although I haven’t been to Universal in many years, so I don’t know what the place is like now).

ParticipantDefinitely in the same vein as “Black Beauty” and “Big Fish,” and based on what I’ve heard from “Deep Sea 3-D,” I hear a bit of Serenada Schizophrana too. Unfortunately, I’m just not all that motivated to see this movie; the G rating throws me off (always a bad sign on a live-action movie) and the educational materials all over the site point me in a bad direction. Also, I can tell the score will be very light, which isn’t bad for Danny, it’s just that I wish it was more like “Corpse Bride” and “Charlie,” which were light at many points but also had a delicious darkness to it, something “Charlotte’s Web” most likely won’t have. I’ll just have to wait and see…

ParticipantI have to admit, I’m not looking forward to this as much as I have his other projects. Plus, isn’t John Landis doing a “Bat Boy” movie next year as well? That’s two literally bloody musicals, only one of which I’ve seen (I saw a terrific production of “Bat Boy” at Steve Carell’s old high school, where my friend goes). But people seem very positive about Sweeney, so I’ll trust those judgements. Still, “Believe it or Not” is still the one I’m really excited about.

ParticipantHa, funny about what he said at the end… I was 13. Very cool video.

ParticipantThe only place I found that information was IMDb, and that’s not entirely trustworthy. Every other site, SoundtrackNet included, asserts that Danny is still doing The Visiting.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantThat’s a pretty good list, although I’ve never heard of “Inframan” before. My only change otherwise would have been “X2” in place of “X-Men.”
Spider-Fan
ParticipantThat’s kinda weird…it’s played so slowly. Interesting, though.

ParticipantI just got the “Superman Returns” CD today, and I’m really pleased with the presentation. Since there’s only 55 minutes of score on it, they decided to enclose 3 trailers and a great “making-of” featurette so that the extra CD space wouldn’t be wasted. Nice touch, perhaps a precedent for future CD releases?
Oh yeah, I saw the movie yesterday as well. Bryan Singer is a genius. I want to be like him. The only sucky thing was that the movie theater I went to, which boasted “new speakers and projectors,” had crappy sound quality, so it was like listening to everything like a 1950s film.

ParticipantDammit, it looks so good! Curse your talents, Raimi! This is Elfman’s turf and you know it! Argh, and there appears to be so much thematic potential.

ParticipantI recall watching that movie recently and thinking that same thing. I believe it came out in around 1987 (before I was born), right when Danny had established the “Pee Wee” sound, so maybe it was the craze back then. I’ve always liked Horner despite what people say about him. Just remember that his next collaboration with director Joe Johnston after that movie was “The Rocketeer,” which was just fantastic.
By the way, do you have a link to that “Zorro”-esque clip of Nacho?

ParticipantLike I commented earlier, I think Hess is sort of a dummy. As in, not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

ParticipantWelcome! You came along just like I did about 3 or so years ago, having heard the music before but never having a name to put with it. All I can say is that you should listen to the “Spider-Man” score and you’ll be thrilled.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantListening to it again, I heard the Hulk connection in the part that sounds like late in the track “Hulk Out!” but I also heard a bit of “Goodbye” from X2 in there as well. Even if he took some liberties, at least Ottman is continuing the legacy of classic film scoring instead of caving to the crappy trends set by this so-called “BT” fellow. Imagine if McG had actually directed the movie. Hey, what’s the deal with crappy filmmakers having names of just a few letters?

ParticipantI too would have liked to hear Danny’s theme in “Batman Begins,” but I understand and respect that Chris Nolan wanted the movie to have nothing to do with the first four movies. He wanted it to feel serious and completely separate from the silliness that Schumacher and even Burton injected into their films. He wanted a fresh start, and although I think he either didn’t hire the right composers or didn’t look for the right sound, I understand why he didn’t opt for Danny’s Batman.
Spider-Fan
ParticipantIf Tim Burton did this movie, it would have to be animated or stop-motion. I don’t see any other way for him to do it and not make it like it will turn out presently.
